New Eva Pep?

Hey all you people of the 405th. I have a question,(MODS delete if necessary) is there any NEW version of the EVA? I mean, the only one on the wiki has been very frustrating for me, and I have thrown away 5 or so of my EVA disasters. So I was hoping anyone here could help me out, (I'm sure other people would be happy too) and redo the EVA. It would be a great help to me. And again, if what I'm doing isn't allowed, please remove this thread.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, dude, but that's easier said than done. Initially designing a Pep .pdo file is very time consuming, demanding and complicated (it's not an easy task, or one for the faint of heart). Re-designing one can take just as much time and effort.

So, if it is possible for someone to do this for you, it's certainly not going to happen overnight. You'd probably have to wait a good long while on this to be done, as whoever takes on this task would have real-life matters that need to be done on a regular/daily basis.

Again, not trying to be discouraging or negative here. Just being honest about it.

I am very aware of how much time it would take to re-design a helmet. And I have amazing patience when it comes to things like this. I was just hoping that maybe someone could fix up the current EVA pep, since some parts are very frustrating and near impossible for me. I understand if no one wants to do this, it was just a semi-request for a helmet.

And I know your not being negative, and I know that what you said is the truth. But hey, maybe someone will help me out.

Wish I could help you (as the EVA helm looks awesome) but I don't have a registered version of Pepakura 3 :(

If you found one way fustrating, take a different approach to building it. For example, instead of starting on the visor start on the body of the helm, and vice-versa, or just connect radnom matching together untill you get something. It also helps when pepping (and working on your costume) to play some of your favorite music.

They have the files there just visor and helmet,

but, if someone could make an E.V.A. pep it would be Robogenesis...

Good job, he already knows where they are. He said it in his first post.

I just looked at the files for it, and I'll admit, it could use a different unwrap. The base model looks alright at first glance, though. And finding someone to unwrap it again would sure be a lot easier than redoing the model entirely.

EDIT: Did I say "could use a different unwrap"? I meant NEEDS UNWRAP BADLY. Pieces with only one poly on them? Long strips 1/8th of an inch wide? For shame. (Sorry, rant mode over.) And sadly, I'm at work with no access to Pep designer.

Very true. Just don't expect it to be anytime soon, is all I'm saying.

Exactly what part of the current Pep model made it frustrating for you to build? If you could explain in some detail just what it is that's been problematic for you, that might help someone skilled in this know just what part(s) of the current model need to be edited.

Coming from experience after building the original pep file, it's not impossible.. in fact, it's actually a lot easier than some of the other HD models of other parts out there. What makes it hard though is that there are a LOT of small, thing strips will flaps that overlap folds.. if that makes sense. What I would suggest you do (or anybody who builds it) is to use the join/disjoin tool to make the flaps easier, it is possible and had I known that before I built the EVA helmet, I would've done it. It's all about figuring out what arrangements of folds you work with best, for example I prefer having many pep pieces each with their own large-ish flaps rather than having a pep piece that tries to combine a couple of parts, but results in really small flaps where possible. Give it a try, joining/disjoining the pieces will do miracles for your build.

I'm more of a picture kind of guy. Is there anyway I could take a screen shot of it, and then post it? The problem being that I don't know how to take screen shots.

Jareyes, I actually have tried this before, but still have much trouble completing the helmet, thanks for the tip though.

*Update* Ok, well since the screen shots don't work, the problems with the current EVA helmet pep are as follows: The "chain" of tabs that connect the long strip to the top of the helmet are backwards, (had to cut them apart and re-glue backwards) the "rebreathers",and the whole entire part of the bottom (where the back of your skull sits). Those are my main issues with the helmet. And again, if anyone is willing to redo the helmet, I would be very thankful, and happy, so I could finally start my EVA SPARTAN.
