So long time lurker first time poster here! Last year I got into foam crafting with all the wonderful videos and tutorials from Stealth and Drack mainly. My first attempt was Iron Man which turned out better than I had ever expected and gained much praise and attention. I wore the suit to a few Halloween costume parties (and won once!) and a few community events. The suit is great and I love it but it has it's downsides. It's very cumbersome, I cannot put it on without the aid of another person, the visibility in the helmet is near zero and it's wearing quite a bit. So with my Iron Man suit soon to retire I've come back to the 405th and looked at many other builds and came to the conclusion that I wanted to make a Noble 1 foam suit. I've been a long time Halo fan, playing Halo:CE over Xbox Connect back in my highschool days for hours and hours on end all the way up to Halo 4. Carter was definitely my favourite looking Spartan from Reach and his gear lends well to foam building. I've got myself a few goals to try and keep for this suit over my last:
1. Independent - I'd like to be able to put the armour on alone, have full use of my hands/arms/legs and have access to the washroom!(Major flaw in the Iron Man suit)
2. Maneuverability - I want to be able to run a full sprint in this gear, touch my nose and even sit down.
3. Durability - Last suit used PVA glue this one will use Plasti Dip. Should be as easy as that to keep from the cracking and chipping.
4. More Gadgets - Smartphone that controls the head lights, gun that lights up and makes sounds with trigger pull, fully functioning packs on front and back, knife that looks and functions real, but is foam.
5. Visibility - No more fogging of the face shield/eyes. I'm going to rig up some fans in the helmet and more venting for my breath.
6. Accuracy - I would like to make the Spartan armour as close to the character as humanly possible. I will be utilizing an airbrush and fine rotary tool for the detail work. I'm also planning to be as close to 6'8-6'10 as possible with shoes and insoles.
Onto some pictures!
Iron Man as he stands
The kids love the suit, almost as much as I do
I made a new friend in an AWESOME Captain America suit. For reference I am 6'5 and hes just shy of 6'0.
The cutting begins on Noble 1
Nerf gun as the base for my DMR, Value Village for $3.99 what a steal!
Progress on the chest after a day of work.
Stay tuned for more progress!
