Primer coat is a paint. It is a sealant for the paint to adhere to. After you fiberglass, you fill with bondo or rondo and sand to the shape and surface you want. After you are done that, you want to paint on a primer coat. This will show some imperfections that you can correct or you can just paint right over it once it dries. (Usually about 30 minutes)
