I'm actually thinking of trying to reverse the vacuuform process. Instead of sucking out air, blow it in like a balloon. Enough pressure inside should form it well against the inside of a mold. Any thoughts?

Why the heck not! What's the worst that can happen, it doesn't work? I would suggest when you make the mold, make it strong. Air pressure can be very destructive, even at just a few pounds of pressure. It will also need exhaust venting. Like you said, vacuume form but backwards. The air will need a place to go as the plastic is expanding. But ya, totally doable.

A few well placed holes in the helmet mold and after filling the paper craft with clay and smoothing I could use smooth concrete to make a nice, heavy cube so than it will seal it. FINALLY! I CAN POST ELSE WHERE!

Who do I talk to about not being a new recruit

Hi Cedva,

You're granted non-recruit stats after being on the 405th for 90 days (Check) and have created 50 posts (Check). I'd say give it a day or two for the system or an Admin to notice.

Starting the size 2 helmet (my size.) fiancé tried on the size 0 and it went on like a charm but was really loose. Luckily there will be padding. I actually need to think of what kind of padding to put in these. Maybe a bunch of individual hex cells. Any ideas

I'll be doing the size 2 in the proper section as I can now post in other areas.

Good thinking! Nice work on your helmet. Although undersized, it is a great idea to have a test piece especially when doing the trickier stuff like forming the visor. I'll be rooting for you! Also, you may consider joining up with your regional regiment in the regiment forum section to see what people in your area are up to.

since my fiance doesnt play paintball and isnt likely to wear this to any events it does make a good testing size, and if it goes well i do know a few people who are about her size who might want it. so everything works out :)

I'd say keep posting your progress in this thread, then make other posts in other sections just so you have everything in one place c:
