Once more into the Frey

Hello there, I’m Jason. I used to make and sell Star Wars Mandalorian costumes but I stopped that a few years ago when my heart was no longer in it. Here recently I’ve been getting an itch to make something but not another Mandalorian I’ve literally made about a hundred of them, so I love Halo so why the hell not. I went on Galactic Armory and picked up the ODST rookie set (my favorite character in all of Halo by the way) the files are really nice I might open up the helmet in solidworks and make a few very minor changes for personal preference stuff but the files are really good straight out the gate.so this thread will be a journey that we all can take together. I’m not going to rush through it so this will probably end up being a long and drawn out thread. Sorry for that now. Anyway without further ado here is the beginning of our journey.

Welcome! We’re excited to see you’ve taken your first steps into an ODST!

Don’t stress about a thread being a bit long, we actually like those around here. Looking forward to what you create!

Thank you, I appreciate it. I will be posting in here sporadically lol. My printer should be finished with the left arm by the time I get home from work so yay. did a bit more spot putty and sanding last night on the helmet will be doing more tonight. need to run to the store and pick up some decent primer. I've been looking at some of the other builds on here and they are all really impressive. Glad to be here.

Really nice start on things. Looking great.

There's a bunch of really good ODST threads for sure. My build was with the same set of GA files you're using, maybe there's something in my write-up that helps.
Thanks, I checked out your thread. Very nice and helpful. I printed the left forearm with base model scale because it says it’s scaled for pretty much my size and build. It’s definitely videogame scale need to reduce the scale a little so I have complete range of motion. Decided to go with 95%, 90 is just to small can’t get my hand through the wrist opening but I can get through the 95 so that’s the winner this round.

Ummm... Forearm is 2 part. You should be able to put your hand through easily with the 2nd section off. Then put that on. Some people do magnets but I prefer elastic so it just stretches open then closes behind and makes a good seal around the glove's wrist.

The files I have from Galactic Armory are closed loop gauntlet style. I’ll look around for different ones.
