I have been planning on pepping an iron man helmet but the pepakura files i have been looking at are garbage. Now, i have seen videos and forum posts of people creating iron man helmets based off of these files and i can't rap my mind around how they have been doing it. In pepakura viewer, many pieces are overlapping each other and numbers are jumbled up together making them unreadable. How do people get around these problems? Here is a photo of Sharkmakr's helmet unfolded by dubean33 to help explain what i am talking about....

There is a setting somewhere to put the numbers outside of the object, the only downside of it is that you will probably will have to glue all pieces imidiatly when cutted.
I actually prefer to pep without numbers.

For a lot of the overlapping folds, you have to use your imagination. The most important thing is to get the outline correct, but the tabs don't have to be perfect as I'm sure you've figured out. As for the overlapping numbers, my suggestion would be to just look at the Pepakura file in Viewer as you do it and look at what connects to what, and where. I think this method is a lot easier to begin with. The numbers are a great reference and are really great for double checking yourself but it's a lot faster to cut out your piece, mouse over it in viewer, and you can immediately know all the adjacent pieces. I never even look at the numbers honestly because this method is so easy. Hope this helps some.

I pep without numbers. I just keep pep open when I'm assembling because I also hide all fold lines to get the smoothest result possible. For those super thin parts where the tab is thicker than the actual part, I like to fold the tab before even cutting it out. This way, the integrity of the surface will remain and you don't allow the thin strip to buckle when you are trying to fold the tab. If the piece buckles (folds or crumples) your finished part may be warped or asymmetrical.
