Hi,
Ya..um after 3xRECON helmets, 1xSCOUT helmet, 1xMk.VI helmets [after correctly scaling precicely] I have found that

1.I CAN'T MAKE HELMs FOR $#!T!
2.I CAN'T MAKE SCOUT NOSE PART LOOK RIGHT![looks like GoW carmine helmet nose piece]
3.I CAN MAKE MA5Kv1 [though with warping(I REALLY DON'T CARE AS LONG AS IT LOOKS LIKE A MA5K)]
4.I NEED HELP!
5.IF ANYONE MY AGE(14) OR A FEW YEARS THAT ALSO LIVES IN Charleston,SC I COULD USE YOUR HELP!
6.I DON'T WANT TO BE SPOON FED I JUST NEED SOME HELP MAKING THE PARTS LOOK RIGHT!
7.PEOPLE MAKE FUN OF ME BECAUSE I'M NOT IN THERE SCHOOL WIDE CLICK AND BECAUSE I PLAY HALO i don't want to start a fight just want e'm to leave my friends and I who like PEPAKURA and HALO alone (NEED NON-VIOLENT SEG.)

Wish I could help, but I moved to Illinois. I have the same problem (Can't pep for crap) and started making testers. I eventually became bored and started making grenades which has kept me busy for a while. It gives you experience and you have something to throw at your brother :D

the earlier pictures of your scout actually didnt look bad. try printing your peices out with the numbers. It gives you a way to line up the tabs better, so they are not only parallell, thier ends and lengths match too. Score every single fold, and compleetly crease each peice before you glue it together. That way when you glue tabs, it wont 'spring' back on you and rip your glue off. You can see the complex peices, such as the scout nose, come together one peice at a time, before you mess it up with glue. hope this helps. good luck in the future!

also: have any pictures of you 'failed' builds? We could tell you how to attack it differently, if you want.

Like most of these guys say you could go with some testers, I myself am not that good at peps but I did a couple tests and a couple gernade and i got alot better, so you could try some of that.

keep trying, don't give up
my stuff isn't that great either, (see thread in sig) but I just keep at it
you'll get it, don't worry, and can you post some pics of your helmets, I'm pretty sure they couldn't have been all bad :D

everyone has to start somewhere and as they say "practice makes perfect", I know it's very cliche but its true!

like the others said start with some of the testers then move on to something a bit more complex, maybe some of the low def models. the more you do the better you get and before too long you'll banging together a HD helm no problem.

make sure you have the right tools for the job and DON'T RUSH!! take you're time over it and don't expect to finish a piece in one sitting. if you get frustrated at it, stop and come back to it later.

I only work for up to 3 hours at a time on a model, that way I don't get bored or annoyed and end up making mistakes

remember *insert another time related cliche*

best of luck and don't give up!!

Get some practice and take the right paper 110lbs cardstock. This might help to.

Up until I read that I never realized that the numbers were the definitive factor to lining up perfectly. I guess we all learn something new every day.

Patience is the key. Iam not one for patience, but pep builds take time and deligance. dont rush into what seems to be a hard build, easy stuff first. handplates, some smooth helms.....

also finding the kind of glue that you like helps big time. Many prefer hot glue, but many use some sort of contact cement. Myself I am patient to a point so I really like hot glue as it cools quickly (except if you get a glob on your fingers...)

There's several threads on glue so I'll leave it to you to research... just remember that resin disolves some glues...

I like super glue and contact cement. Contact for long tabs, superglue for small tabs.

Yea, it just takes time. If you really have the drive for it, you would be at it. Also, armor building isn't something you slap on quickly and expect Bluerealm type quality work. Just take it slow, and in time, you will get better.

Read what you can, ask the Q&A team, and you should be ok.

Ok buddy, first, lay off the Caps lock spam, second, you make it sound like you are very angry or very sad.

To answer your questions,
1. Maybe so, but you can make helmets right? Yes, everyone can, but it doesnt mean they are good at it. Skills are either something you are born with, or something you develop. It seems you need to develop them, just like I did.
2. *refer to number 1 and 3.
3. If you have problems with warping, just take your time, to cut every piece correctly and glue them almost perfectly. The slightest mistake can screw up the entire papercraft.
4. I can see that.
5. I wouldnt release information like that, but, I believe you can search members here by location, so try that.
6. *refer to number 3.
7. Kids are cruel. Im sorry I cant help with this part, as I am not in your position in my school.
8. Who would do that? This is a professional community and we respect each and everyone of our fellow members, if I may say so myself.
9. I do not understand this abbreviation...?

I hope I helped atleast a little.

Dude, Just take your time. If you are making helmets and stuff just for the hell of it be patient. I have a deadline for my armor in september and im not in any rush.

Don't listin to those punk kids at your school. If they don't like pep or halo then they don't. like what you like and don't let anyone ruin that. I bet they have a helmet stashed under their bed or a copy of Halo 3 in their pillow case.

dude keep at it and start with low res files trust me I hate pep with a murderous passion but at this point it's a nessisary evil unless you want to try your hand at sculpting and I will say I sux at both ot em. It took me 3 attempts at the recon to get the basic shape remotely right and I still pitched the face area and glued in support struts. I use low temp hot glue if you make a mistake on a tab it can be softend up with a hair dryer set on hot or even the tip of the glue gun and will separate for another go at getting it right.

And remember bondo covers alot of evil, pep work can be used for 2 things (1) a base for resin and filler just to get the shape and size. or (2) a resined and painted peice with no filler. a peice resined with no filler must be fairly clean to look right. The same peice with filler a little elbow grease and sandpaper can be as ugly as granma's hammertoes in the pep stage but the end result is what matters.

Example: this is the best pep I managed for a recon. Dosent look like much at this stage and you can see every mistake I made in the folds and tab alignment.

The same helm after a quart of bondo going on and a trashcan of bondo dust coming off what you dont see is the 2 weeks of filling and sanding cussing crying and strange looks from the niebors.

And remember the golden rule the guys who act so normal and cool at school are the ones who usually end up working at the walmart mcdonalds and their greatest claim to fame is "when I was in High school (insert amazin feat of athletic skill)" yada yada yada.
Were artist we are supposed to be different it's what keeps the world moving forward and not stagnating because no one is willing to try and do something out of the ordinary.

SPARTANS NEVER SURRENDER!!!!!!

Cheers!

its fine just take it slow like everybodys been saying i know ive redone so many helms becasue they are not perfect that i could probably give one ot everybody whos posted. plus doing them over and over taking a couple weeks on each one( i started in summer) will get you really good at pep and let you learn from your mistakes. and when you finish one glass it bondo it and try your hand at detailing and stuff and you might find out that no matter what the mistakes on your pep you could make it up with your skill with bondo you never know
