Pilot Concept Art Build

Starting this thread so I don’t forget. I saw this art by @Isaac_Hannafold on X and I can’t get it or the Top Gun theme out of my head! So after my Spartan is done, or well off enough, I’m making this. I also want to to an A2 bomber jacket haloified to go with it, which may get done before the suit is started.

The soft parts have been ordered and should be here hopefully in the next few days. I got a flight suit and two flight jackets, one is an A2 leather bomber jacket, the other is the CWU-45P as seen in Top Gun Maverick.

Right now I’m between helmets to choose from. The concept art has the regular ODST helmet, but looking at the Helljumper has me thinking it would fit a lot more. It’s a lot rounder and fits the pilot aesthetic a bit more I think.

As a last resort, if I can’t get either helmet in time for a possible C2 deadline, my marine helmet would work in a pinch. Either that or no helmet like Echo 216, I’ve got options.

Another thing I’m debating is getting a pair of jump boots. The art has the legs bloused at the boots real high, higher than my current boots I planned on using go up to. I’ve always wanted a pair, so it’s hard to fight the temptation to get some.

Helljumper definitely looks more like a pilot odst rather than the base model does, I agree with you on that and believe you should go for it!

oooh, love the idea of a pilot themed ODST. I think the helljumper helmet might be the play. Also might stray away from the reference, but adding a harness especially around the waist have having the straps around the legs drape down from the sides would go a long way for the build. Regardless can't wait to see where this goes!

This is my very quickly thrown together pilot. I’m working towards two versions of Fernando Esparza. His in game version and his action figure version. This pic was at HcS-Seattle and my flight suit got destroyed the day before. So I had to grab some different items.

So work on the pilot has been done here and there. I’ve mostly been planning out the jacket idea because that’s gonna be the coolest aspect of the build in my opinion. I’ve got a variety of patches, both available retail and custom that I plan on putting on!

The first leather jacket I got was way too big, but I got lucky and found a G-1 leather jacket that fits like a glove! It’s the exact same jacket styleTom Cruise wears in top gun so it’s extra special.

I’ve also purchased a flight suit as well, the color is close to the source and it fits decently

Progress has flip flopped between searching for / ordering patches and sourcing out pieces for the armor itself.

Helmet has been decided, I’m going with the Helljumper helmet from 5. The files are from Hudson forge and are very nicely detailed!

Unfortunately base scale won’t fit, so I’m reprinting it 5 percent bigger. Also unfortunately, it doesn’t fit on my printer in one piece at that scale, so it’ll be split up.

The big patch for the jacket came in, and it’s pretty sharp looking! Very excited to see it all come together!

Also finished my main prop for the build; the MA5K by crackhead09 , more info is in my prop rack thread

Waiting for the last two patches to be finished but the jacket has been sent to the tailor to replace its zipper, once all the patches are they’re going on!

Also fulfilled a longtime goal of mine, owning a pair of Corcoran Jump boots! Ever since I saw Band of Brothers, I’ve always wanted a pair. A little searching on eBay found myself with a pair in my size!

That thing is so clean. I thought the avenger was kinda lame when it first came out because I was like “it’s just a smaller assault rifle” but it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite weapons. Both visually and gameplay wise. I think I might like to print one sometime in the future.

For me, it's purely visual. At its core for me, i want my medic to have for of a PDW, and I was going to do the H2 SMG, then decided to make my own shortened Battle Rifle, but I'm thinking i might just do this... we'll see. Ill have to play with the models a bit to make my final decision

Are medics allowed to carry weapons? They didn’t used to be able to. Can they today? Can they in the future? I imagine the covenant probably don’t care about something like that, considering they think all of humanity is vermin. Better carry two avengers, just in case

Medics have been carrying weapons for decades. Short answer, they started when enemy combatants targeted them in WWII.
Modern combat medics and corpsman carry the same rifles as everyone else since the military switched to intermediate cartridges. Historically, they were given more specialized PDW style weapons, compared to full size combat rifles.

Modern pilots still get issued ultra compact weapons for PDW purposes. But with the number of casualties in the Halo universe, I'd imagine combat medics would begin carrying smaller weapons, in liue of more medical equipment
