Hello all,

So, I'm currently working on a sword for my next convention, but I want to make one for my friend as well, I was hoping I could just make a mold of the one sword and make a copy, but I can't afford anything from Smooth-on or anything like that.

However, Plaster of paris is relatively cheap. I know it doesn't have a long shelf life, but I really only want to make one cast. Has anyone ever tried using it? and if so, how successful were they?

Not tried it personally but I have used it for other things in the passed and I would say for a sword it would be far too weak to use really (would snap if not carefull). You could try using that resin with fibre glass in it. I am sure you can buy a small cheap tin of it some where. I haven't used it but think I saw some one using it on a thread.
