Project: 002D - DARE helmet

most of us know that in Halo3: ODST, that was a special Oni agent codename: DARE. this cosplay is based on the Idea that DARE isn't just a name, it's a field of Intel, similar to our modern day, SEAL teams. I'll be starting with my V2 DARE. enjoy the pic heavy posts.

cleaned up the helmet and cut out the visor.

sprayed a metallic base coat.

marked out more detailed lines for my Dremel.(please excuse my shaky hands)

not sure, if halo Wiki doesn't turn up any clues, I'll make it up, and I'll make it up goooood.

EDIT:

I've come up with an Acronym for DARE since the Wikia isn't dropping any hints:

DARE - Detect Assess Reconnaissance and Execute.

The helmet is looking pretty nice. I can't wait to see it fully painted and with a new visor in there!

Looking good so far. I have been meaning to redo my Reacon helm but I have been so wrapped up in differ projects including finally doing an ODST

Finished painting the green layer with Rustoleum woodland green like I do with every suit.

then I took a sand sponge and weathered it, I don't like the Vaseline trick, it doesn't look right. after that, I clear coated it, tomorrow, I will touch up the details with black acrylic.

I decided to work on the detail a little sooner.

and I got to work on my Mini mag pistol for my DARE operative, I gutted an old airsoft gun so it can be Convention safe, and so I can mod it out in detail.

I changed my mind about the minimag, it's not working out as well as I hoped, I'll just use my M6B for this cosplay.

finished detailing, now going to black wash it for a final coat.

here's some more updates:

I stenciled the DARE and weathered it to my liking...

and for fun-zees I spattered some dark purple alien blood to make it more Menacing.
