I don't think so, I picked it up because it was only a quid a can. It looks more bronze than gold if the cap is anything to go by.

Any idea as to the correct colours?,

I don't know what it would be over there, but I prefer an anodized look. It's a metallic silver aluminum base coat with a couple top coats of transparent candy gold. Here's an example.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! and breath....... sigh.

Well a big tip from me would be not to use super glue when pepping.

It is causing me no end of grief smoothing out this helmet as it is a hell of a lot harder than the

bodyfiller. I going to have to get brutal with the dremel to sort this out, i've chucked some more resin inside to save me tunneling through.

It's 11.30pm do you think the missus will complain at me for getting the dremel out in the kitchen. :)

oh so beautiful, i wish i got to that stage by the time you did but major laziness kicked in and i havent done a thing on any project. hopefully tomorrow I can fix and resing the Iron Man plus getting more done on my 300 and recon projects... (PST! theyre a secret... dont tell no ones!)

Thank you for all the geat comments, they are very much appreciated. :)

Well I had to take ten steps back to move forward on this project.

I sanded it all back down to the base and laid filler on thick, so thick I lost all the detail and I considered binning it.

Long story short is I battled on and took a best guess shot at getting the curves and eyes back and think I did okay.

These couple of pictures make it look better than it is as there are still dings and stuff that need to be sorted.

What I do need is good reference shots of the side and back of the head so I can get the scribed lines right when the time comes to do them, anyone got any?.

Comment and suggestions welcome guys. :)

amazing work man, im surprised that you were able to salvage it that well. Unlike you I probably wouldve trashed it, guess that says a lot about me though...

I managed to split the face mask away from the helmet without too much drama, a few edge repairs is all.

Primed and polished the face with fine wet and dry, then sprayed it gold.

Ohhh is gold unforgiving, a couple of places I didn't wet sand enough ruin an otherwise job well done.

I bet it'll be a pig to sort out too. Oh well, I am close to finishing the face mask then it's on to the helmet. :S

omg rebostar!!! Thats amazing! It's so beautiful, I think you just motivated me to get on with mine. btw, you mind sharing the gold you used on that sucker? It seems to be the closest match I've seen yet.

Ahh thanks guys :).

WRising, the paint I used was Plasti-cote (projekt paint) brilliant metallic gold U5408 160.

I bet if you wet sanded enough you could get a real good mirror finish with this stuff.

That is awesome - what were you thinking of using for the red - a normal car-spray?

I am not sure yet,the red looks like a candy apple red to me. So I am going to experiment with spraying a red paint over that gold to see if I get a good richness to it.
