I cant seem to connect the four pieces of my chest piece together in a way that the chest piece doesn't seem too big on me because so far I don't want to restart, making the chest piece. What can I do to fix it?
Hello, some pics of your armor and the scaling would be helpful. many of us would be able to tell you if the scaling is actually good or be able to tell you where you can adjust to make it work.
I know when i started working on my back plate i was concerned with how big it looked.
Adult to adult - just remake it. What you *want* really doesn't affect the actual fit of the part. If its too big, then its too big.
We have all remade parts. Two... three... four times... Its part of the learning curve of making armor. Its why people work so hard to get scaling right first with programs like Armorsmith or Blender. Its why people will test fit the paper pattern itself, or a cardstock version before committing the foam. And still people have to remake parts. Its why you see part up for sale or give away. You see people post
Hey, I'm in Chicago and built this vest a size too big. Anyone in the XL range want to give me $25 for it just to cover the cost of the material?
It really is just part of the process and part of you skill building.
And every time you cut parts your skill will improve. Every iteration of your armor will have straighter lines and less 'hacking'. That's how we learn all skills from sewing, to foaming, to driving, sports... nobody is a pro their first time at anything.
You do you - by my advice is that you can spend 100 hours trying to gerry rig the parts you have, trying to trim them and so on, or just spend 50 hour making new that will be cleaner that this version. And your next version will be cleaner than that.
