Hello friends! I'm wondering if anyone has the know-how to create the fx for smoke for a weapon or costume?

Reason I'm asking is because I saw this video on youtube:

I went, after searching our forums, The Hunter's Lair, 501st, and traveling through the arm pits of the internet, to my local library and found nothing. I feel as lost as Sherlock Holmes on the trail of the Predator murders.

I e-mailed the gentelmen who posted the video and haven't recived anything yet that was about a month now.

Can some one enlighten me on the subject or direct me towards the nearest mountain of knowledge? (Perhaps a good tutorial?)

Thanks,

Roodkill-

this looks exactly like a "fog-fountain" (don't know a proper translation sorry)

Looks like he probably used dry ice (I think he did, I could be wrong)... For those who don't know, Dry Ice gives off a fog, smoke effect when you pour water on it. The warmer the water, the more the smoke and the quicker it will dissipate. Cooler water will produce less dense smoke but it won't go away as quickly.

NOTE: Please us cation when handling Dry Ice. It is extreamly cold and can burn the skin if handled. And always make sure there's an opening for the smoke to go out of... if not, the cannon (or whatever container your using) will explode.

Well, I looked into it a bit more and if it is dry ice then it's really not that effective for going to a convention. I've played around with the stuff before for halloween and such, but storing it would be a pain for a costume. There could be a way to do it I suppose. However I'm looking at something more like a miniature fog machine or "Fog-fountain". Just out of curiosity. Thanks a bunch though, gave me some ideas
