so i wanna make a chest piece out of foam, but i have a problem. What kind of foam do i want? the EVA foam i have is way to thick, does not bend, and does not cut very well. can anyone help!?

You need sharp blades ie fresh bladestart as for bending you need to heat up the Eva Foam to bend it

ok, im guessing your right because your probably way better than me, but does it need to be a certain width of foam? like 2mm or 6mm and on?

It can be any thickness you want how ever the 2mm are mainly used for detail work

I usually pick up the Harbor Freight brand foam mats which are 1/2' (12mm) thick. It's quite a bit thick, but it makes it easier to put relief cuts in the back for folding and bending and adds a lot to the over-all rigidness of the piece. Then use the smaller mm foam for details like Colbs said. A hot knife will cut throught the foam like......well a hot knife through butter lol. Also, a sharp pair of scissors can also cut through it very well.

Sharp blades and plenty of them is the absolute key to success! Change them often and never keep using a blunt blade.

Lots and lots of sharp blades. You can also pick up a hot knife which uses exacto blades from places like lowes/home depot and the hobby lobby and what not. In my case well I have a band saw so life is good.

can get a heat gun for about 15 dollars from harbor freight which you can use to heat the 1/2 inch mats up and then bend them and hold them till they cool down again and they will take a set.

And if you havent seen them yet. good set of video's/
