$#!T. you're right. i forgot about that..... oh well. maybe in another 30 years. or 300.

never give up! raaah!

wait, neither are photons... they combine with the plasmons to form... plasmides or something which decay after traveling around the metalic surface of which the derived from into photons again.
.... so what's a photon made of?

mashed potatoes (inside joke)

Photons still aren't really a tangible solid object, right? I'm saying something like a bullet, made out of actual atoms and molecules, wouldn't be stopped by a metamaterial.

you do know if you camo up your suit really, really good and sit in a bush, you can use that instead of active camo, its really cheap... lol
:D
lol. i was playing paintball with a guy who actualy did that once, and the game took FOREVER and in the end, i won :D

(i used my super-spartan-skills) ;)

we'd have to test it. you never know until you try.

by the way, have you found any websites that actually say what a metamaterial really is? all the ones i go to use gold, but if there's a smaller atom (and cheaper one) it'd be helpful

The first superlens with a negative refractive index provided resolution three times better than the diffraction limit and was demonstrated at microwave frequencies at the University of Toronto by A. Grbic and G.V. Eleftheriades[9]. Subsequently, the first optical superlens (an optical lens which exceeds the diffraction limit) was created and demonstrated in 2005 by Xiang Zhang et al. of UC Berkeley, as reported that year in the April 22 issue of the journal Science.[10] But their lens didn't rely on negative refraction. Instead, they used a thin silver film to enhance the evanescent modes through surface plasmon coupling.

That should sum it up. Unfortunately, it didn't do negative refraction, so it's not really invisibility.

EDIT: Wow, epic double posting on our parts. Sorry mods!

Here was my other post :-D

Lmao... last time I went paintballing, I had no armor because it got in the way of my climbing the tree.

Thankfully, I never got shot, and I placed like 20 headshots on the other team. They never found me.

Team slayer ftw. :p

lmao. nice

i just thought something. you know how when you rub your feet on the rug and shock someone? rubbing the rug makes you hold a charge, and that would add a electrons to your skin and touching someone sends them the charge.... wouldn't the extra electrons make an electromagnetic field? you could give your suit a charge, and when a (normal) bullet hits you, the charge would be sent to the bullet, and the plasmons would take effect? the charge would have to be high, and the bullet would have to be conductive, but it might work if the charge is high enough! *goosebumps*

oh, and im not suggesting to shuffle your feet whenever you're being shot at ;)

these are costumes ...although the tech ppl want to put into it is cool...but its going to be a pain in the arse to try to install everything in such a small space beleive me

Well for power, you could use a car battery, no too heavy. And, it could power the HUD and camera.
your the first ive herd say a car battery isnt that heavy but, i know i wouldnt want to lug around one all day :p

yeah, but it's still fun to think about how things might work. and hey, you never know. we might actually get something to work ;)

and i dont know about car batteries. im sure there's something better out there

I certainly hope this is all a joke and more of a wish list :p

Half of the things are impossible or theoretic, others would be exetremly expensive. Are you a millionaire? Because if you are just make a REAL suit of MJOLNIR armor, get some Titanium and get to it! :p

camo requires gold wires around 350 nanometers thick surrounding the suit. then charging it would make the suit bend the light around it, like wind around a.... aerodynamic thing. it would make it look like a shimmer in the wind, not completely invisible, though.
Problem is, if the light's beeing bend around you, then it's not getting to your eyes. so your invisible, but you can't see anyone else either.

yeah. i know. the, uh.... heh... the head would be visible. simple as that. you'd be a floating golden visor. that's why hamabuyasa would be best. the eyes are smallest.

unless you put very small cameras on the outside of the suit, so you can see, then display them on the HUD inside your helmet. those would stay visible, but they'd be more difficult to notice.

EOD has the smallest eyes, actually. They're damn near nonexistent.

what about the underarmor? what should that do? what should it have? i mean, it has a temp regulator, and a bullet impervious gel, but what should it consist of, or what else could it have?

strength enhancement? we've ("we" as in USA engineers) found a polymer which bends when charged. used correctly, and you have an artificial muscle.

Ahem. We Americans had just as much to do with it as any other country doing research in this field. Don't single us out like that.

And your thinking of Nanotubes. Shrink when charged, contract when current is killed. An inch long thread will take about a year to make and be several million dollars on the side of uncomfortable.

sorry for the singling out. no harm intended. i'll send flowers

and where did you hear of this? i searched high and low to find this polymer and only found a scientific american article, and a youtube video (or, those were the only helpful ones), but never found what they were made of. perhaps they are made of nanotubes, but they were planning on making blimps and zeppelins out of them as a new propulsion system, so it cant be too expensive....

also, the polymer was described as a rubber, but maybe they both work

as cool as it may be to say i have a fully functional replicated SPARTAN MJOLNiR costum....ther'd...be no purpose in wasting the millions...were civis, unless you feel like going through that rare hassel of the gov. wanting to sign a contract with you in mass producing your suit like Nightmare is or doing some kind of work with them or even once a month having them check up on you to see what your doin with it, because technically if you think about it, it would be conciderd a lethal weapon once its found about so it would need to be registerd in some way with the state.

its just to me seems like too much of a hassel and waste of money for a no use except showing it off

personally, what i had in mind would be to after you had the thing, you could give the idea to the military, and let them have their d**k waving contest with the rest of the world like they usually do, but you'd be making a positive affect on (our half of) the world.

not like MC in a d**k waving contest is a plus, it's an over-dramatization of course, but you get my point. :cautious:

and besides, you never know when aliens will attack us. some personal security is always nice :p
