Temp Chatroom On Irc

For those that dont know what IRC is, it stands for Internet Relay Chat. You DO need to download a client to your machine and install it (most popular is mirc. Get it at www.mirc.com ). There are supposedly web pages that you can connect to irc servers from, but I have never personally used them nor do I have links to any for you.

Anyway, download mIRC (if necessary) and then connect to ANY of the EFNet servers. Once there join in room 405th. (just type that in the box where it asks what channel you want to join OR in the status screen/window type either "/join #405th" or "/j 405th" without the quotation marks)

I'd like to point out typing /j 405th and /join #405th take you to two seperate rooms. There seems to be a welcome bot in /join #405th

Newbie Method to IRC:

As for an easy solution without really having to download anything, Chatzilla is a free IRC client add-on in Firefox.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16

After "installing" it will ask you to restart firefox. After the restart click Tools> Chatzilla. Chatzilla will now open in a new window.

In the bottom left hand corner next to the chat bar is the place to change your user name. After doing so click the "efnet" link in the INFO: section of the big chatbox. In the chat bar type /join #405th. Hope that helps some people who enjoyed the chat stay connected.

Cheers,

Kensai

lol the welcome bot is me ....or at least kind of me lol

I'm trying to get an IRC server setup and running on my machine (instead of using things like Efnet and whatnot), as well as someone else is too. We'll see who gets to putting it up and running first lol
