Hey all, I'll be putting all the files I make for 3d printing here. They will be free to start with but I might sell some of them later on if I feel they are worthy of that. I will be providing a .STL file as well as a .makerbot file ready to be printed on the Makerbot Replicator printer for each.

Anywho, here's the first:

Halo 4 MC Hand Plate:
Flat version (suitable for any printer)

.STL: http://www.mediafire.com/download/46i4tks71qekcpg/H4_Hand_Plate.STL
.makerbot: https://www.mediafire.com/?n5p9jtgf7n77o6o

Curved (suitable for some printers such as SLA printers or ones with wash away supports):

That's a very nice handplate. Is is a HD skin of the game-ripped file, or a custom creation?

Thanks, it's completely custom. Based on a few reference photos.

Pretty cool stuff. If I may point out: if you want a completely accurate-to-game model, the relevant files (model and texture) have been uploaded to the File Archive for reference. That said, the file you've made here already looks pretty good indeed - I'd critique it perhaps being a little thicker, but nonetheless, it looks very good.

Yeah it seems like it by itself but based on the references I looked at, it actually looks pretty thin. I actually thickened the bottom past where it should be based on those pictures above already because it just looked too thin. And yeah, I've been using your files from the Archive in the past and will continue to do so in the future if think they will benefit the piece just didn't think it was really necessary for this :p Plus unfortunately the game models have pretty bad topology for actually modeling details so it's really just useful as a form/proportion reference.

Little WIP sneak peak of my next project... Also would anyone be interested in a like basic 3d modeling tutorial for this purpose?

Using a ripped destiny file as a base... pretty challenging because the topology was reallllly messed up in a lot of places especially where the different pieces connect to each other. And here's the reference I'm using for details

More progress on the destiny helmet; I'm on the detailing stage now. The cleanup of this mesh took absolutely FOREVER lol... but it is turning out pretty nice.
