Hello all and thank you for checking my thread out, after a hiatus due to real life, I am finally starting to build my first halo armor. Starting small, I am building a UNSC trooper armor out of foam, and well..... here is the progress so far.

Most of the pieces cut out and arranged

Front chest piece and back/shoulder straps assembled and put next to each other to make sure they scaled right

And front and back scaling shots, let me know if you think the scale is off I am trying to enlist help for that purpose.

The Armor is Made of Primarily 5/8" Eva foam and Some 1/2" Eva foam, and any tips regarding working with foam would be greatly appreciated.
I'll have more progress in the coming days hopefully.......

A big thanks to TD2253 for providing a basic template for reach trooper armor as well.

I have had a lot of success using xacto z-blades. They are very sharp and last a very long time when using them with foam. Keep up the good work!

well after a realization that maybe the original is too big I started working on a smaller chest piece, what do you guys think, too small?

Best Reference on short note

Went from upscaling the templates by a full inch on each side down to a half inch. Guess I'll try 3/4 inch upscale as well to see where the middle ground ends up.

I think the smaller ones looks a lot better, go with that. :)
And as far as working with foam, just make sure you take your time and plan out your gluing and stuff in advance :)
and buy a knife sharpener for your exacto blades. I bought a cheap one at walmart and i sharpen my blade with that rather than having to buy a whole ton of blades lol

Update time! Had a busy week, finally got some time to bunker down and work on some stuff.
Got the back cut out and ready to assemble.

As well as the shoulder pieces and drop-leg pieces.

Going to try two different ways of making the shoulder plates, a single 5/8" piece and two 1/2" pieces glued together. Anyone have any suggestions for a good grit sandpaper to use on foam?

Also narrowing down through trial and error the right length for the shoulder/underarm straps, Template scaling doesn't quite work for those.:eek

Also started to work on some guns I picked up awhile back, more pics later.

Anyway, back to work I go!
