Hello all. I'm back with a new project! This time it's the Star Wars TFA X-Wing Pilot helmet! This was modeled/printed by fellow Stony Props members Josh West and Walter Marlin (@Caladar of the 405th) and is being finished by me. Once complete this will be molded and helmet kits will be made available. I'll be taking pre-orders soon and casts will be ready in roughly 1-2 months depending on work load/real life. Please send me a pm or post here if you're interested in one.

While the model is quite good, there are a few parts that are off due to lack of references at the time so those will be addressed as best I can during the build.


Here's the print after the 3 helmet parts were glued together...


Making progress on the blast shield (80% complete) then on to the visor to prep it for vac forming...

Progress continues on the TFA X-wing pilot helmet! So the little detail in the top left photo wasn't accurate to the screen used piece, so I removed it with the dremel, smoothed it out, scaled a picture of the area and used it as a template to cut new parts out of a garage sale sign, glued them all together and attached.





Brand new and looks mucho better!!!

Any new progress pictures? I really like the new helmets, I would think they would fit a bit better than the old style from the Original Trilogy

Actually yes Lady Cue ! I have it finished. Here's some progress pics and some of a finished piece done by JUSTINIAN 117.


First up, here's a few of the progress photos before things were all said and done.

The mohawk had to be extended and raised a bit.


I also had to cut the recess for the heatsink on the back of the helmet.


The large round bit was lasered by Justin Branfuhr. I turned it down to an angled edge with a dremel and file, and made the two smaller bits out of dowel rod using the same procedure.


From there everything was fine tuned, sanded and cleared in prep for molding!


With the molds complete and visors formed and dyed, all that was left to do was cast and put one together for good measure!
