Nice Scale looks good! Its really coming along! >.> I have to make my 3rd FS HD helm. My 1st was too big. Second was To small but I got the scale now :). Seeing as the shape on this helm is very different to others how did you scale yours? Just curious :)

not trying to make fun of you, and it was the first thought that popped in my head when i looked at your pics, but you look like harry potter in mjolnir armor....you could be like Harry Chief, Potter 117.....

on a side note. Very nice pep work

Well actually I used the method for JediFraz's pep files. And it somehow worked out perfectly.

Its fine I used to get that all the time, I guess I do look like him in a way.

So i finally finished my helmet, there are some minor imperfections, but i figure that there are minute when compare to the rest of the armor. Thanks to ALL of the people here who make tutorials, they are so helpful (ex: Sean and the duel-visor tut, Scott and his painting tut, and so on). Sorry for the lack of updates, I got too caught up in the build to take pictures. Here are some pictures.

Finished Helmet:

So please tell me what you think, constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

If anyone can tell me how to thumbnail these pictures, it would be also be appreciated.

WOW!
Thats all I have to say, the helmet is probably the most ingame halo 3 accurate helmet I have seen! It looks near exact!
I wonder If I could do that with the DF4L smooth helmet...

How much would a dremel cost?
And I know I'll have to use a different nose piece, because the one on the helmet isn't that good.

How did you do the padding and leds?
For the pads I cut out some dense foam in shape that i needed, and hot glued the fabric on to it, then put them in using some industrial strength velcro.

For the LED's I just bought some 10mm LED's made a circuit (Link has a excellent tutorial somewhere around here) and hot glued it in.

I don't really know how to explain it any better, I would just say search around (thats what i did) and give it a try, and learn from your mistakes.

I got mine for about $100, but it is a really nice one with a LOT of heads. But you can get one for around $30 at home depot or lowes, just make sure to get some good cutting wheels and some sanding heads.

One more question:
Are you going to mold this?
If not see if you can send it out to someone like Adam, a helmet like this, this game accurate should be molded!

What colors of paint did you use?
Rust-oleum Oregano
Black Automobile Primer
And silver for scratches

In Scott's painting tutorial it it has all the details.

I don't know it really depends on if I have enough money once I finish the rest of the suit. I would like to eventually mold it but don't have any idea of when I can do it.

I hope you mold it, because I would maybe buy a cast of your helmet! Depending on how much money I have. >___>
Good luck with the rest of the suit, now I gotta go work on mine!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think that if I did mold it I could really sell them with ease, because since it is a pep helmet and pep models are usually the in-game models with added detail, I would run into legal issues. So I don't know, but we aren't really suppose to talk about selling and buying in threads, so if I do ever mold it I'll send you a PM.

I'm not really sure if I'm correct, but is it just me, or does the visor of the helm seem slanted?
Yep it is a bit, but like I said thats just one of those things that I don't really think will be that prominent once the entire suit is done. Also that one picture where I am wearing it makes it look a lot more slanted that it really is.

you became... friends with bondo?

dammit how?!? i cant use that stuff to save my life!

anyway, your helmet came out AMAZING, truly

Very nice! you got the colors perfect.
Just a little more sanding would make this helmet perfect.

:/ i think it doesnt need any sanding

however, done some reaserch (using MSpaint) and noticed, it isnt symmetrical!!!! D:

may just be bad camera angle, or it isnt 100% symmetrical, but hey, you learn from your mistakes

and i doubt anyone will notice, unless they sit there studying it for ages like someone

IMG_0741.png

nobody will notice though, i think its perfect that i decided to stare at it for ages, lol

then, it may just be a bad camera angle, cant wait to see the rest of the suit

I think the helmet looks great.

It cannot be perfect, and people don't notice these details in a convention ;)

Do you have progress pics of your helmet?
