Amen, brothah! I did some spray stencils awhile back, and they were... extremely detailed. By the time I finished, I'd modified the x-acto grip three times to try to stop the pain. 'Course, it was thin polycarbonate, too..

Before I used pep for MC I had made a few Nintendo Papercrafts and they have tons of pieces, that are all about the size of the smallest piece on MC, and I used an X-aco knife to try and capture all the detail...never again... Those knives get really uncomfortable after a few minutes.. Doing anything detailed takes fingers of steel and a lot of time. Some people like it because it's more accurate but I prefer to keep all my fingers on my hands even if all my lines are not perfectly straight, It doesn't matter when you put the 'glass and bondo on anyway.

Alternatively, you could stick with a $1 x-acto knife and just live with the pain

I personally use a snap blade box cutter. I got the box cutter and 10 extra blades (with 8 snaps each), for a buck at the dollar store. It works very well. I also use the box cutter for scoring. I cut and score freehand (ninja style ).

I can't stand scissors, because they don't cut as well, and after using them for a while, the tops of my fingers (from opening the scissors) become raw.

I use an xacto knife, I've only ever used scissors once, and they were the little kid kind. Ill have to try using shears. The key to using the knife is to cut about 5-10mm past the end of the line.
