Lets say I need to add something to an airsoft gun to make it Halo-y. I tried clay, but It keeps cracking when it dries. Melting plastic over a candle and bending into shape didn't go too well either. Any idea what I should use?

Thanks to anyone who can help me.

I don't know where to begin with this.....

Theres lots of ways to make weapons. You can't make them out of clay unless you intend on making a mold of it and re-casting it in another material. Unless of course you're going to let it air-dry for 2-3 weeks and have it fired. Like a pottery gun or something.

You could make it out of cardboard and fiberglass overtop of it.
You could sculpt it in clay, make a 2 piece rubber mold of it, and then cast it in resin.
You could carve it out of wood
You could carve it out of high density foam, make a mold of it and cast it in resin.
You could carve wood forms and vacuumform ABS plastic copies...

None of these involve melting plastic with a candle.... thats just a bad idea.

Have a look at Adams tutorial on making plastic parts:

I realized that pretty quickly :(

I think I'm going with the cardboard idea. I got some boxes and fiberglass resin today.

You could do what I do:
Find some crap laying around in the garage that looks similar and start working at it.
