Why are my gauntlets like this? (foam)

Making DFTs ODST forearms and they just wont close on the sides. And yes,I did bend them.
When I beveled the edges to get a better seal, they came out rounded. What do I do?

Have you used a heat gun to make it flex more?

As well, you might be better off using more screens accurate files. one of my buddies really liked Hughes files that were redone for foam by evakura armor. Will update if I can come across the file quickly.
