Cerberus: The Hound Of Hell

Finally finished!

I'm finally done with the Mark IV torso, well the pepping part anyways.

I am so glad that I can start working on other things now. I have decided on the Reach DMR as the next part of my Cerberus project. It has gotten a lot warmer around here lately, so hopefully I will be able to start some 'glassing soon.

Pics! YaY :D

I will begin the DMR as soon as I can get a hold on some good cardboard ( I am using L3X's sliced technique).

Hmmmm..........I don't know if it's just me, but that torso looks a tad too big. :eek The C.Q.B helmet looked a little big too.

Also, unless you plan on using something other than resin and fiberglass to harden your stuff, I hope you figure something out for the tape you are using to hold your pepped stuff together because those chemicals can get very hot when mixed and might eat away at your tape. It would be a tragedy to have all your stuff fall apart while you resin it! D:

I to agree that the torso is a little wide, but if you look at the actual spartan that is the way it is supposed to work. I does make movement a little difficult but I will be modding it to fit better. I think the CQB just looks big in the picture, as we are having a problem with fitting into it. Once she gets her head in though, there is plenty of space.

I'm a little confused at your second point, as I have already 'glassed and resined a couple of peices using the exact same materials without any of the problems that you have mentioned. I also have never personally experienced the resin becoming hot. Warm maybe, but...

Am I missing something?

Whooo hoooo! Finally some Updates!

It's been a while since I updated this as the site had sooooooooo many glitches. But that doesn't mean that I stopped working. On the other hand, I've been slaving away!

I'll let the pics (mostly) speak for themselves:

EOD helm finally 'glassed!
Along with all of these:

As you may have noticed, I had to edit the sides of the chest piece in order to reach in front of me. The file wasn't wrong or anything, its just that clipping doesn't exist like that in real life. ^^

Yeah, yeah. I know I'm not supposed to resin/glass the outside, but I did this a loooooong time ago and decided to roll with it.

Continued in next post....

And, yes. I know this is warped. But don't worry, I have plans...

Time for the DMR!:

45612_461416540750_692610750_6802699_800130_n.jpg

Yep, I have added some things to L3X's original.

Grip was too small, replaced with Nerf.
Added Nerf rails/iron-sights(they are on at different heights on purpose).
Made my own bolt action! (But it broke recently... easy fix!)

Now, keep in mind that I am using a lot of creative freedom with this project. I am adding/removing things as I see fit, so not all of these props will follow the fiction.

Like this:
45987_461416335750_692610750_6802688_2909369_n.jpg

Yay, bondoh'd! It's hard to see, but I removed the right cheek box-thing as I found it got in the way of me attempting to aim down the sights on my DMR. It works better now, and gives my helm a unique look. I plan to finish this in a couple of days! (BTW, this has already been sanded, only touch ups left)

But the best is yet to come!
As you saw in the pictures above, my girlfriend is wearing her pepped CQB helmet. Now, I would like to let you know that then was the last time she saw it until this past Saturday.
During that time I had been slaving away at it in a crazed frenzy to finish it for her birthday(I had 1 week to take it from pep to finished).

Now, she ended up sick on her birthday, which gave me some more time to finish it (thank God). So it literally took me one and a half weeks to turn her pep (which is what it looked like the last she saw it) to this masterpiece!:

40348_461416185750_692610750_6802679_2957594_n.jpg

(one of me wearing it for good measure! Hairy chin, chin chin! lol)

So this is what she unwrapped Saturday night during her (rescheduled) birthday party! And can I tell you, she loved It! Sadly we were all so wrapped up in the moment that we all (three of us) forgot to take picture! Can you believe it? But I hope to get some soon (they will probably be taken with her new $800 camera!) to display here.

I also was able to make a trip to the local War Surplus Store and got some cheap supplies to use as props for the film. More on that (and the awesome rifle that I was given) in the next update when I have pics!

Enjoy!

Really? Not one person looked at my latest post and thought to comment?

Well, time to update again. I've been really busy with getting ready for University, but I have been able to allocate some time to work on my armour. Just tonight I finished my custom EOD helmet! I worked on it from when I got home from work at 4, till it got too dark to work at 9:30. Talk about a long day!

One of the things I did differently this time around was that I put a 'glaze' of resin on the bondo in an attempt to fill up some of the pock-marks. It worked, somewhat, but that's good enough for me ! :)

I can now say that I have accomplished my goal for this summer: Two Helmets Complete!

Here is my EOD helm:

And here is me wearing one of my Marine (or rebel) costumes (incomplete), along with the rifle that the Insurrectionist Spartan (my girlfriend) will use in the film, as well as my character's (Cerberus') combat knife:

Sorry for the double post, but I want to share this awesome progress with people.

Why won't any of you comment? Am I doing something wrong?

your not doing anything wrong, you just need more time to get your stuff noticed. Its been up for a day. Just give it time, people will notice. looks good tho. the jaw line is a little off, and the colors and metallic/shiney, but it looks good tho. try using two colors instead of just one solid colored helmet.

Here's my idea for your plot: Am I too late? Too bad!
The Spartan is granted freedom from the UNSC, never has to fight in a war again, and gets to live where ever and do whatever he wants! YAY!!!!!

Also I want to give you a tip. If it's already too late, then I'm sorry, but Spartans would never have a helmet that shiney. An enemy could see that from a mile away. Try to mix colours together and make it less of a metallic shine and more of a dulled glint.

@ Bulldogrestler
What do you mean by jaw line?

@Jamesishott7
I would make the armour less shinier if I knew how. I just painted it and then sprayed on some clear-coat for protection. It is also a little bit less shiny than it seems, in those pics I was using the flash. Any tips? As for the dual tone, I plan on doing that at some point, I just need to get some time to get to it (It is not on my list of priorities, right now I just need to finish the two suits. touchups come later).

Actually, if you were to look at the amounts of time that passed between updates, you would see that lots of time passed and still no-one had commented, causing me to double-post.

Updates, Yay!

In case any of you have been wondering why this thread went dead, its because I've graduated and gone to University! So as a result, I have had less time (and resources as I had to move) to work on the film. But, it still progresses!

I, like a lot of others have been amazed by the results that Timecon and BenStreeper have achieved with foam on a low budget in a short amount of time. So if it wasn't obvious enough already, I would like to announce that Project Cerberus is going foam! (yay, less time and money spent!)

As you can see, I am working on making a shin. Now, keep in mind that that was all made in between classes today (I picked the foam up @ 11 am). So it is pretty good progress, considering. For those other 405thers in Canada, I found the foam at HomeHardware's website. I searched EVA foam, and the product number is 4433-900.

In other, slightly unrelated news. More pics of my girlfriends helmet...

... except she isn't my girlfriend anymore. After four years of awesome, she broke up with me two weeks ago. :( Now this will in no way hinder this project, since she and I are still the bestest of friends and there is no bitterness. That is due to the fact that in those four years, we started as best friends and slowly became more than that (we also didn't do anything stupid). So we had a really good foundation to fall back on when the proverbial storms of life hit.

Not to say it still doesn't suck. :p But she said there is still a chance, and that she is going to take a little break. So I'm heading back home this weekend to tell her I miss her and to hang out with some friends (her included) and see if i can recruit any armour builders after I demonstrate how easy foam is to work with!

Bonus! I bought my little brother an unfinished ODST helmet from Alexspartan177 for his birthday, and now he is all excited to build a full suit! Looks like we might have an ODST in the film too! :D

You may notice the crappy looking edges, those will be fixed at some point (like when I figure out how).

Alrighty, now I'm packing up all my gear while I wait for my ride home...to build some more armour!

Yay, more updates!

Well, folks. I was able to head home for the weekend to hang out with some of my friends in an attempt to collaborate and get some armour done! Here are the results:

Well, kinda. We actually got two thigh pieces done in the first half. Then we started on the torso on Sunday. Which is what I've been working on between classes:

More to come this week! I hope to have enough pieces done for a rudimentary haloween costume.

Until next time!

Yup, you guessed it!

Update tyme!

As of tonight, the torso is done until further notice:

Until next time!

Very nice man!

I think this a really cool idea and your armors are coming along well (yours anyway is your girlfriend/friend doing anything on their armor? or your bro?) I'd like to do a foam suit, but I'm going to hold out and make a pep/glass one first (that and the harbor freight here has no foam that I've found)

Also, What is that thing some huge shell or what?

I'll be watching this for more updates, Good luck man!
And check out my stuff if ya don't mind will ya! ;)

Thanks dude,
Yeah, I'm currently the only one out of all of us who can actually work on this alone, but I get help from the others when I visit back home.
I would really recommend foam, but if you can't find any then I guess you don't have much of a choice.

That is a 105 mm Artillery shell! It only cost me $10.

I'll check your stuff now!
