Hi all,
It's been a while since I've posted here, but I figured I might as well start a thread showing my weapon prop builds from Halo 4. You can see my Halo3 builds here: http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/26874-Finally-Started-This
The other day I started work on the Sticky Detonator. I started by slicing up the model and feeding it to Lopez, my robot whittler. Here's what came out:
After some quick assembly and another part made by Jarvis (my 3D printer) here's what I had:
Here's the three parts stacked together:
After a bit of filling, sanding, and detailing, I sprayed on a coat of primer to see how it was coming along:
Not too shabby. After a bit of thinking, I decided to carve off the back left corner so I can make the little flip-out screen. So now I've got Jarvis building me the piece that goes into that slot:
So that's the latest thing I've started.
Before I started that little beauty I started working on an M739 Light Machine Gun (aka "SAW"). Here's one of the carves in progress:
Here's the parts stacked together:
And after a bit of TLC:
While the digital model was very detailed, there are still some things I had to go in and add by hand. Most notably the details around the buttstock and grip:
I made the sight rail/ammo counter as a separate piece on the 3D printer:
Here it is glued in place:
I've been doing some detail work on the drum magazine as well:
I still have yet to start working on the barrel assembly. That will add another foot or so to the overall length of the piece. This is going to be a pretty sexy beast:
I'm in the fine-tuning stage on both of these, but I'll be posting progress here as I move forward.
Stay tuned.
