Hey man,

The trick was to just not use bondo body filler. I stopped working with it because it just added more work. Since I knew I was going to be casting the helmet, I just used two extra layers of resin on the outside, sand, then used spot putty where necessary to fill in parts. The spot putty dries fast and is pre-mixed. For me, it just works faster and better.
