So....after a week and a half of printing the helmet is all printed out. Test fit with masking tape to hold things together before welds......Seems to be too big.....gonna have to resize and print another. probably going to need to slice it somewhere and magnetize it so I can get it on my head...
Yeowch...For that much I hope it was Chief in the suit with textures and bone structure for animations.....Cause that's a heck of a lot for just the geometry of the armor.
Still, your progress is looking great. the pieces you have the filler applied to look awesome.
MonsterMask Its looking pretty awesome so far. Question for you though, where did you get the models for this armor or did you model them yourself? Im wondering because Im working on gen 1 MK VI now and I've converted the high def Pepakura files from the armory because I couldnt find any good...
Quick update on this, I printed one of these for Harri51 so I'll be sending that off to him. Bevel guide printed just fine without support too, maybe 20 - 30 cents in material and printed in about 3-4 hours. I also printed out a sandpaper holder with 3d printed screws. the screws fit well even...
Hey everyone, I came across this by chance while looking for some sanding tool accessories on thingiverse. When I saw it my first thought was that I can think of tons of people on the 405th, both new and old that would love to have something like this.
So without anymore anticipation what...
JD of Asgard It looks like you're using superglue to put all the pieces together. Do you have a Dremel or rotary tool? You can put some spare filament into the rotary chuck (use small pieces like maybe an inch or two long and make them straight) and weld the pieces together by melting the...
Ah, makes a little more sense now since its a plug and play printer. Dont get me wrong theres nothing wrong with those printers I just dont have alot of experience with them since alot of the ones I've seen make it harder to make upgrades and modifications to them. You're using filament from...
JD of Asgard What brand and model 3D Printer do you have? Usually alot of issues with print quality can be fixed with some easily made modifications or loading a set of preset settings for the slicer from around the net where someone has already done the tweaking of settings for your specific...
Interesting choice with the many small parts approach. I personally like slicing the piece up so that each part fits a good portion of the printer's build volume. Also wanted to ask, maybe its the angle in some of the photos but are you having any gaps in the layers of the parts? I've had that...
macktruck I use simplify3D but the supports are generated through MeshMixer. The support type is technically designed for resin SLA printers but I've had alot of luck getting it to work with FDM printers and really like it since its still easy to remove and cuts print time and material costs of...
Hey, so Im starting my MK VI armor and wanted to try to see if I could print the whole suit. Starting with the helmet of course. Here is part 1 of 12 of the helmet printed, there's still polygon lines in the helmet but nothing a little sanding and headlight fluid cant fix :)
