First of all, I know that the 'creation' area is probably where this should go, but for some reason I can't post in there. So hopefully this is not too offensive and doesn't upset too many people with the placement of this post. Maybe somebody could suggest how to move it?
Anyway, this is my attempt at a 30-day complete armor build. I am a complete noob when it comes to Halo costuming (or any costuming really). So, I thought I would make a tutorial of my first time attempting anything like this, so that true noobs can see how it's done from a true noob's perspective.
I am experienced in paint, fiberglass, bondo, etc. due to a job at a body shop. I have painted and repaired planes, cars, large enclosed trailers, motorcoaches, etc.
Here is my basic plan. Mark VI armor, complete with custom under armor and weapons. I will paint it the color of my actual Halo 3 character; charcoal with blue accents. It will be a weathered, war-torn look like most other's custom armor. I plan to build the boots around an actual pair of old shoes so they're comfortable to wear. The suit will be a two-piece under armor setup ('pants' and a 'shirt') with straps and clips to hold the outer armor on. I've looked at all the ideas I could find about strapping. I will use some of the suggested methods, as well as some of my own ideas that I haven't seen on here. My plan is to have lights on the helmet, possibly a fan inside, and a real motorcycle liner inside for comfort. And all of this will be done in 30 days (hopefully). That's right; just in time for Halloween!
I know this project is a bit ambitious, and probably a little underestimated on my part, but we'll just see how it goes. I will be posting pictures every day, and I am expecting to have very detailed pictures as well. So be sure to check back often if you're interested. I'll have some pics up in a few hours as soon as I finish my helmet.
Peace!
