Maybe I missed a notice somewhere saying that the 405th was going to temporarily be closed. If that's the case, mods, just lock the thread.

Anyway, did anyone else get a 509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded error the last couple of days? If so, why was that happening?

I came up with few possible answers: 1) We were under a DOS attack, 2) We had an abnormally high amount of traffic, 3) The site was taken off-line for maintnance, and 4) Adam forgot to pay the server bill, which is probably the most unlikely.

Do any mods/staff/other members have any input for why this happened?

Or maybe the problems on my end.

we exceeded our Bandwidth for the month. and now its a new month so no more problem.

from my understanding (witch is very minimal when it comes to technical stuff) the excess of threads, new members, and gallery updates... everything new and added to the site takes up bandwidth so with all the excess junk on this site we exceeded out limit and the server that the site is on shut it down.

so remember dont post new topics for old questions, try and keep your Wip's in a central thread... if we all do a better job at that we shouldnt have this problem again.

I'm pretty sure - when the site went wrong, you always can check it's exact status on Adam's twitter.

Or no? =\

Yes Dizzerak you are correct! The 405th Source has a twitter and why the site was down was explained there. Apparently the site hit the bandwidth limit for the month. This was caused by so much traffic + cache issues. Bandwidth is over limit. 300GB? The cache settings got turned off that were used to reduce traffic that regular users create. So it's a new month and most of the problems will most likely be cleared up by Adam and the staff.
