Basically, for this class I need a mentor. I was wondering if someone could maybe reach out to me? it would be so helpful. I can elaborate more on this.

It would be a 3D printed halo costume, (Im a huge halo fan myself) And thought would be cool to show off as a a first project.

Im from America, I do have access to multiple 3D printers, and I have a good budget.

my deadline is beginning of June.

Sweet idea, I hope someone takes on this challenge!

A few things that might help you get more interest. as there's not enough info here;
  • Where are you located exactly? This is a worldwide forum, and while helping out online is possible, it's alot better/easier if it was an in-person collaboration. Obviously not down to the town, don't doxx yourself haha, maybe just down to state level (if you're in 'Merica)
  • What materials would you supply? Do you have a 3D printer yourself?, would you be buying all the materials needed? etc. Just letting people know what they're in for. And if you don't know the budget you'd have, I'm sure some experienced members can help you figure that out!
  • What is the deadline for this? This year, we've got HaloFest at the end to look forward to. And I know a ton of people who are planning to go and want to get as many builds done as they can for it. So letting people know how much of a push / time commitment this would be, would be nice.

Hope you find a person to take you under your wing!

Thank you.

Cannot recommend myself as a full time mentor, as my time and work schedule are stupid and always changing, but cancertainly give you pointers.

If you want to impress the classmates a suit will do fine. If you want to impress your teacher AND your classmates, include electronics. Others will need to pitch in because I'm no good at it myself, but @rocklobster has a wicked ODST visor trick.

Mostly, include the lights where needed..

You'll want to make the helmet, but wearing it at school will get you in trouble, so use caution.

Figure out:

*Which suit you want to make.
*Plastic treatment for reinforcing it after printing.
*under armor - this kills more suits than you'd realize.
*color scheme
*exact budget (you don't have to tell us internet strangers these kinds of details.)

Then: work your butt off. Six months is doable, absolutely, but will be pretty tight timing if you run into problems. So time management will be critical.

You could also incorporate a Bluetooth speaker in the suit to play Halo music from your phone if you work it properly. That would be cool.

I don't need a full time mentor, just a once in awhile checkin. and thank you for the pointers.
