I'll have it done tomorrow! I'll do this, You just keep working on that amazing armor you doin'!

EDIT:

Ok we may have a bit of a problem here, I can still work with it I'm just not sure how easy it'll be. There is alot of kind of (Jacked up) Faces in the back. Closer to the top of the helmet. And I counted six open edges total, so cleaning up all of that will make it easier, but I'll work on this file for now. If you do fix those bits, I'll gladly do those too!

ANOTHER EDIT:

Ok Now I'm sure we have a problem here. Its a good model, I was impressed. As it was importing I noticed how many faces it had. I was Like o_O I can maybe still work with it. Then it takes 15 minutes on my computer to assemble, and unfold. (granted my computer is "old" By todays standards.) But still, after thinking ok I can DO this! then I clicked and found out how LITTLE those faces were. It's going to need alot of cleaning up before even. . . Nintendude could work on it. Sorry man, but like I said I'll still do it If you can do that.

Can you be a little more specific as to what I need to work on or what you want edited?

Well what needs to be editied is the amount of faces. Before I can do anything, the way they are they are too small and too close to work on unfolding it. on the front, in this general area, there are too many tiny faces, (I can't stress tiny enough)

And here are some of the problem areas in the back i meant.

sooo....

Update time. I've begun hardening tests and have discovered a few things,
1. I'll need many, many more cups.
2. My resin to hardening agent ratio needs work (I was barely able to start the second test page before I had to throwout the half inch of resin left from the first batch as it turned to brick).
3. I need to work on brushing the resin on lighter (I think).
4. Even standing 20+ feet away after letting it dry for 20 minutes, resin smells sickly wired.

In less toxic news I have started my boot design. Since I don't have the money to get the materials needed to pour my own boot soles I'm going to modify one of my old pairs of sneakers.
Starting the template overlay

Covered the entire outside of the shoe in bit of paper so that I can mimic the shape and effectively make paper spats.

Next, coat the paper with masking tape to give the template body and keep it from falling apart when I take it off.

Side by side shot next to it's partner, then more tape.

The shape holds! yay.

The template will be used for making a fabric overlay that will attach to the shoe and give it a longer neck so the opening can be hidden under the shin piece. I plan to make most of the boot armor out of foam for comfort reasons.

Blarg...

ok, Here is the new update. After keeping my computer on and the pepakura program open for a week, I was able to unfold (rather poorly) the helmet and print it out. Leaving the file open for reference I put it together and here is the result.

These first two pictures show you just how much of a mess the model became in the unfold. There were doubles and triples of parts that shouldn't exist and a lot of pieces overlapped and stuck to other pieces they shouldn't have. I have no idea why it turned out that way, and I am sorry to all that tried to unfold this monstrosity.

The process of cutting and gluing was confusing as well, because even though I tried my best to stop it I ended up printing some parts with overlapping pieces.

And the final product

Not bad for no flap ID's and dealing with overlap. Next comes the blitz on hardening the armor and making the undersuit. The helmet still needs a little modification on the cheeks but over all I'm happy with how it turned out. It's also big enough I can safely put in padding without having to worry about making the inside too small.

As you can see from the second pic the helmet will need some adjustment (like the addition of a flexible neck-seal) before I can wear it correctly.

This has to be the most freaking hilarious picture I've seen on the 405th this week ahah!

Laughs aside, the chest piece is incredibly well detailed, great pep work! (I assume the other pieces are as great, although they don't get much of the spotlight)

it still turned out pretty good considering your unfold could have been better (no offense) but other than that man, the build is looking great =D keep up the good work

That's coming along very nicely! I wish I found that chest piece when I first started my build! It's too late now ahah
I'm building almost the exact same Reach armour as you, if you like, take a look, maybe you'll find some pointers and tips : )

Today I finished resin-ing the parts. Next step is the rondo, then fiberglass.

some parts have bits of dirt stuck to them from where they tried to escape across the driveway with a push from the wind.

It's coming along nicely :) With past experiences using only rondo for my suit, it starts to crack on the sides after wear and tear, I would reccommend adding atleast some fiberglass on the edges if not the entire inside. Just a little tip :p

Yay for up dates!

Got most of the armor rondo-ed now, and too that end I've come to the conclusion that 4 parts bondo to 1 part resin (4/5 bondo 1/5 resin) is a good mixture with bondo hardener squirted across the top to make a deformed "no" symbol (circle with a line through it).

On the first forearm I didn't get everything covered in the first coat so I had to add another batch to it.

You can kind of see the two different colors of the different batches.
