A Reach Caboose (WIP, with pictures)

Quick update: I'm currently do an internship for my degree and haven't been able to work on the armor for a while. Come this next semester that will change. I should have a few funds built up and I already got a couple of new ideas for how to get the armor wearable by Halloween. So, to recap, I'm alive.

Ok, Update time!
So, after failing to meet another self imposed deadline (this last Halloween) the armor is on hold again until I get some other more school related items out of the way (designing a Tremolo for my final project, and building an electric guitar to put it on). However, I did get a lot done in my mad dash and crash this time round. The majority of the work was in trying to reshape the helmet, and adding light to the armor. Also a new paint job with a lighter color blue than the last one.
Now for some pictures.
The helmet as you last saw it, minus the lens and some foam.

Right, so in case you hadn't figured it out this build has been put on hold for a little while. I do need to take a few more pictures to show you guys and hopefully I can get those done by the end of the week, but at the moment I have to help out around the house as my parents might move in a couple months, we still have to finish an addition to the house, and some of the goats are about ready to give birth.

that is all for now.

Ok, the helmet is still not done, but here are some pictures of what it looks like right now.

and yes, those are lights hooked up in the cheek pockets. They are not as bright as the camera makes them look.

Update:
So, seeing as how I need a good sewing machine to make a new undersuit for the armor and that I have to hold off on buying one as I will be moving within the next few months the armor is on hold as well. Aside from that, I'm now very happy I went with the fiberglass route as anything softer probably would have deformed by now, what with it sitting in a box and all.

Well best of luck moving, and hope to see some more pics soon :)
I think the helmet is coming along nicely

Funny how life works, I won't be moving at the moment (long, and very annoying story).

But hey, stuff happens. And right now I can work a little more on the armor... so new update! Yay...

Started to work on the new brim for the helmet, I'm making it out of EVA foam and plan to coat it with plasti-dip later.

Used a paper guide to get a rough idea of what size I wanted to cut then just snipped away with some heavy duty scissors. The result was something that vaguely resembled what I wanted, and with a little more trimming and molding using a heat gun it should work just fine.

Again, it still needs some trimming,

As for other news in the armor section, I've started the rework of my undersuit as I know I can do better with the experience I gained from making the first one. Step one is to make better sleeves for the torso. The last ones were a little small...

I managed to rip that seam from bending my arm... yeah, it was really small... The torso it's self is actually the best part of the old design and will be kept around for the next version.

That's all for now, hopefully I'll get more done soon.

almost NO ONE makes Caboose costumes...

Youtube or do a search on here for how to paint.

Here is a good one I found

There are lots of great options for making the armor look worn (resists, dry brushing, etc.) Just be super careful about the different paints you mix (enamels and laquers don't play well together).
