Any update on this?

Yes, actually. I hope you don't mind if I skip ahead a bit though.

Just wrapped up some weathering on it this evening. I'll post up some more detailed "build" shots later. Time for bed now...

How about front and rear-view? ;)

Sure thing, don't have any shots of those views with paint on them, but I do have some progress shots

I'd love to see what you could do with a better build!

Me too! Maybe when I have some more free time.

Build progress that got me to the point above:

Started scribing some panel lines with my dremel tool:

Added countersunk screws around the gun, as well as some greeblies for reloading and ejecting the fusion cell:

Back section made with cut styrene sheet for details, beveled MDF for the general shape

Same for the front, more styrene

After some sanding and primer:

Glad you guys like it! I'll be happy to have it finished and out of my hair soon. Should be done with the MF cell today then I can wrap up the weathering and be done. Only bummer is that the water slide decals I made for the graphics on the sides of the gun don't show up well (yellow over dark green, I should have known) so I might have to do some creative masking work.

Edit:

are you going to mould this ?

Nah, its not that good of a build, honestly. The weathering helps it out a LOT, but I cut a lot of corners during the process (the little rounded bits over the grip and stock drive me bonkers. I hate the way they look!) There a bunch of details missing from it so I could make my deadline in time. If I make another one, I'll see about molding as a possibility.

Best model AER9 i've seen at this time, very good work. Really :)

Low-details have it own advantages.

In fact, real handle has a very specific usability at place for thumb and palm (especially with border-plate along the perimeter of the butt) when tryin' to casp it. I test that on my own replica. Pip-boy joustick (outside the palm) scratch lower cylinder bridge.

This turned out amazingly well for such a rushed job. I got to see it in person at Dragoncon. Sadly I was mostly out of my armor when I ran into your friend although we did take a couple pics. Didn't manage to run into you out there. Maybe next year! Excellent work. And congrats on the big daddy win!

That's really, really nice work!!! :p

You should totally cast that and give people some fallout 3 replicas for once. ;)

On that subject, that laser rifle would look great combine with Sigma's power armor helmet.

done and done.

I hope to make a return to this rifle in the future so I can do the build more accurately, but this isn't bad for a 30-40 hour total build. Maybe I'll give one of the other weapons (Plasma Rifle?) a try first. We'll see.

how much would i have to pay you?

do you have the schematics for it?

like i saw int he beggining you had a bunch of pieces already cut.

can you list up dimensions and sizes?

Dude, I don't mean to sound like a jerk here, but why don't you start your own thread on your build? Obviously you're talented and yours is far more detailed than mine. You'd probably be better off making it on your own.

Unfortunately I'm not taking commissions right now. My schedule is backed up until April, when I can better get a grasp on my projects.

Schematics are available on the first page, if you want the .ai files, I can send you those if you PM me your email. Best thing to do for dimensions would probably be to take measurements off the schematics. NeXXt's schems are a lot more detailed than mine though; you might want to ask him.

I finished the last round of some rust weathering, and now I'm calling this project finished. Thanks for the encouragement guys.
