Whoever made it is airbrush happy.

IMHO, it would look better if it were painted like it was cel-shaded.

Looks good, nonetheless.

this is the best version I've come across:

It's a fully working motorbike and not a kit that goes ontop of a scooter.

ive never seen the series only herd about it, but after seeing that ON a scooter or motorcycle..it has to go on a 600 or 750 and nothing else lol i do agree though it is a tad bit pricey but hey, you would be one of the very few to own one

I already designed a real build for the Kaneda bike. Only problem I encountered was the cash for the project.

kinda old news (the article linked is from 2005).
Being a bike enthusiast and an Akira fan, I thought it was an ultimate cool bike!

But it was BubbleGum Crisis that got me into riding motorcycles :D

But, speaking of anime related vehicles, I think this is much cooler; A real working Nausicaa glider (aka Warriors of the Wind aka Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind) based on the works of Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli)

here's the testing of a half scaled version:

And the unveiling of the full sized one at WorldCon Science Convention 2007:

And it does fly:

That flying wing is awesome! I love Miyazaki films too :)

I've always thought this one is quite Akira like

Its electric too, the back wheel is a giant electromagnet.

that is awesome. I just thought the physics behind such a bike was unrealistic.
