Hello all members! I have been following along all the foam builds and started building a suit for my daughter and one for myself as well. I noticed almost everyone going with the eva foam mats or very similar material. I chose to order mine through the mail after looking at Nick Nack Patty Wack's thread of his suit, from the same site he did:

Like most people have said, there is a learning curve to the foam armoring techniques and I am still working them out. I have actually built two shins so far for my daughter and wanted to try to paint them. I have an airbrush and went with acrylic paint and sprayed a few layers onto the shins. The problem I am having, is it still looks like it is made of foam. The foam seems to be a little porous and you can see the 'tiny holes' show through the paint. I looked at Nick Nack's photos and on the up close one I could see similar results, as he used an airbrush too. (btw I am NOT knocking on Nick Nack's skills, I love all his work and only wish to be that good) I think the problem is the foam itself.
Now most people seem to be covering their foam with plasti dip before painting to seal it up and have somethign the paint will really show up on. The only types I see were sold in small containers to brush on the dip or an aerosol type can to spray on. These both seemed like a small amount of rubber to coat an entire suit and it would get costly I imagine?
I was thinking of alternatives to get a coating on the foam and thought of the liquid rubber they use on rooftop. They sell it at local hardware stores and you can get a 5 gallon bucket for around $37, from the short time i browsed online looking for it.
Has anyone used that kind of rubber to coat foam? Or has anyone used that stuff in general and maybe it's not what Im thinking it is and would not be good for this kind of thing?
