okay, so today was pretty successful even considering the right thigh was too big. I glassed the top of the helmet (inside, don't worry), added some glass to the codpiece after I separated it (was already glassed once) and touched up the bubbles in it. The helmet looks so good I can't even believe I made that. Pics in a bit when I have something significant to post.
On a side not, it's sad how good I'm getting at only partially pepping stuff to see if it is going to fit or not. I did about 25% of the thigh and i could tell it was way too big. Did some measuring and it was off by about 20% (I didn't really measure when I scaled these the first time. I assumed master chief wasn't really weirdly proportioned). Gonna measure the shins too while I'm here. Going by longshot's build (clearly we aren't the same size, but we both pre-scaled our stuff to fit us and it was off by the same amount) the shins will need to go down by another 10% or more as well. Chest I know will fit and the only thing that will be left to make (so far I've made everything from head to codpiece at least once, so I know that the forearms are too small, the shoulders are too big, the chest is perfect now, codpiece was thankfully right first time around).
My tactonyx pistol should be here this week and I'm pumped. Once I have my weekends free again (I work 7:30-5:00 at a ski resort on saturday and sunday) probably starting next week, I'll be kicking this into high gear again. I was in high gear before, but when I got a 42 on my first calc test, I had to put the armor down for studying.
so in summary, helmet is progressing, weather is turning, getting good at pepping half pieces to see if it will fit, tactonyx pistol, high gear next weekend.
