Evening 405thers! I have spent the last twenty minutes on my second weapons build (my first successful one). This time it's an AR! Originally I had intended to make this out of pepakura but... well, I'm kinda lazy and this is a method I have not yet tried.

So, here's my plan:

The first step is to make a basic structure out of cardboard and sticky tape. Take note that this is the BASIC structure, and I am going to cover the finished product in a more stable and smooth product (probably paper of some form) and then rondo/bondo it.

I am using this set of images as a basis for my build. Kudos to whoever I found that from (closed tabs = bad when writing a bibliography O: )

dscf0215.jpgAs you can see I've just finished (almost) the basic stock (I should have taken an image of it before hand, but oh well <_<).

Obviously, I 'll need to cut off the built-in scope and magazine before I can do the front half of the gun. I may or may not edit the trigger.

As with my armour, this build will suffer from the intervention of school and studies, so updates will most likely be few. I shall endevour to keep this alive though!

Any suggestions are welcome, so please leave comments!

I am very interested in your project as I might considered this method. Anxious to see it finished.

Thank you poz! I plan to have an update by saturday afternoon, but that all depends on what I'm doing. The basic step seems to be easier to complete then making a full pep file, but adding details will probably take longer.

From what I can see, the actual gun will need heavy modifications to get it to look like an AR

Yes, several pieces shall have to be removed, and much will need to be added. I may in fact make the front of the gun using pepakura, and simply attach it to the model. It all depends on how the back half works out. It shall be a little modified, and will not resemble any vanilla AR model out there.
