the cylinder thing goes INSIDE the muzzle brake, not as an extention. it should be flat, because the game puts a texture on that area instead of a barrel.

its a useless piece, i suggest you not use it.

sweet it looks owsome! if you want a real chalange you should try to build a brute shot that is hard I'm in the middle of building one I'll put pics in my gallery later.

The brute Shot woudl def. be hard to make. but as a SPARTAN girl, i like to stick with human weapons lol

Ill be sure to check on your Brute Shot progress and give you praise though!!! :]

lol thanks! im a bit flustered hahahaha.

I will continue to work on it next month, all my money is tied up in medical expenses and upcoming concerts.

i dont know about the keys, but up here in PA its just starting to get warm, so we cant do any work, but other things come first, especially medical stuff :p

concert? what do you do? sing?

Well its hotter than hell here all year round :cautious: (im a winter person so i hate it here!!!) but hopefully Ill be able to do some work ourside with glassing when theres a breeze or somethign, if i get my own place ill be doin the glassing inside my living quarters.

Oh, and i ATTEND concerts lol Im a dedicated fan of a few metal bands that come to America only every so offen, and rarely come to south florida. But on another note: yes i do sing and play bass guitar and i used to play at a local bar with a few of my dads friends but that was when i was 12 years old lol

When i get to the painting stage I was thinking maybe i should go with a Camo paint job.....or should i keep it black and grey?....or pink camo?

hmm seems like its time to post a poll lol

dude if I put a real blade on it I would need alot of money and I could get in to a lot of troble if any body got hurt. I'm going to be walking around with this thing. but you are right it would be cool. but sadly I can't.

BRI... what else can I say, but... nice job on that SR build! Despite the slightly twisted/warped barrel (which you'll be upgrading with a PVC replacement, anyway), it looks really good. I can't wait to see you resin/fiberglass that thing, heh.

Just a bit of friendly advice on the barrel. I'd strongly suggest you resin/fiberglass the body of the SR before attaching the PVC one, so that the cardstock doesn't give way under the weight of the new barrel. You can go ahead and get yourself an appropriate length of PVC piping in advance, just don't attach it before you've had a chance to do the other step first.

As for the colour scheme, personally I'm a stickler for what works, so I voted for the standard Grey/Black. That's what I'd paint mine, if I had one of these done up. To each thier own, though. I do have to admit it would be very, uh... "interesting", to see one with a PINK camo scheme:lol:

Your too good to me SPARTAN II lol.

My plans for the glassing are as follows:

Put one leg on and resin that side, wait for it to dry and maybe put another coat on then add the other leg onto the opposite side and do the same resin steps. Fiberglassing will be done when Im sure everything is sturdy enough.

The bridge is pretty strudy as of rightnow (just being cardstock) so I'm not worried about that piece falling apart on me, but that will be the last thing i fiberglass (im thinking I will bondo it into the final product after the glassing stage is complete).

As for the barrel, I am planning to add either 1" PVC or a wooden dowel (whicjever is lighter and more durable I guess ....most likely PVC) once the glassing is nearly complete, I will have it travel the length of the body inside and also into the head of the rifle to make it as sturdy as possible.

I might use expanding foam to fill the body so my barrel doesnt move at all and for extra suport.

I will be adding fine detail on the body with bondo and maybe some sort of molding clay that I can resin over.

As for the final paintjob, thats for the 405th members to decide lol.

If I have missed any critical steps PLEASE comment and let me know, I want this to turn out great for my very first prop :]

BOLD # 1: LMAO! I try

For the barrel, I'd say stick with the PVC piping. First off, being PVC it would definately be more durable than a wooden dowel. Second, it'll help add more of a realistic weight to the weapon.

I like your idea for having it extend all the way through the body of the rifle, so as to add greater stability. You'll certainly avoid the risk of the barrel snapping off if accidentally bumping into something.

Regarding the paint job, be sure to have everything sanded smooth the way you want it prior to painting. Take an old rag, dampen it and give the rifle a good wipe-down to remove any left-over particles from sanding that might still be on it.

Also, apply a few coats of primer to the rifle before the actual paint, as that will help it to better stick to the piece.

Don't know if you knew those steps or not, but as obvious as they might be, I thought I should mention it just in case... ;)

SPARTAN II: You really are a big help, I totally forgot about the primer stage... That couldnt have put a dark cloud over my project...

Again, thanks sweetie :D

Pics to come as soon as I replace the barrel and get a few coats of resin on. Ill just revive this thread again with my progress

That doesnt mean people can stop polling over the final paint job though!

BOLD # 1: Well, it's a good thing I mentioned that then, lol. And you're more than welcome, BRI. Anytime

BOLD # 2: You already know what my choice would be, and from the looks of the poll, the standard Grey/Black colour scheme seems to be the most popular so far, heh.

Looking forward to more updates with this when you make 'em, girl... :)
