Chiefer joins the Spartan IV Program

Hello again 405th !

First of all I want to say that, this is a modified version of my earlier thread. What I mean is, I rewritten a few things plus I added the thing that have been deleted after downgrading the site to the previous (stable) version. Even though I did not posted for some time I was still working on my new costume and some other helmets (Halo 2 ODST Helmet, Halo 1 Marine Helmet, Fallout 3 Combat Helmet -winter version-). So now that I finished my first costume (ODST Medic http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/27936-Chiefers-ODST-build-WIP ) and pretty much played the hell out of Halo 4, I guess it´s time to build something again. Well my friends were all like "Now that you have your costume finished, you´re going to stop with this. Right?" I said - "Ha ha ha... NO!" So as the title indicates I´am going to build my Spartan IV soldier in which I would like to go and pick up a copy of Halo 5. The only thing is I dont know when it comes out (probably 2015) Well not just that I have actually found out that here in Slovakia are 2 shows Anime Show - in March and IstroCon in September and if possible I would like to go there in my new costume. BTW Both of them are dedicated to cosplay and gaming. So that´s why I want to make this suit as accurate as possible. I still have some time till then. So anyway here´s a picture of my spartan in Halo 4. Pretty much this is my spartan ever since the game come out and well I have no intentions of changing it no matter what

My progress is slow because there are still the XV-27 Shifting forearms which hasn´t been modelled. Other than that I still need to pep both of the thigh pieces and the knife . Of course there is no Spartan without a weapon so I´am going to scratchbuild the new Sniper and Pistol using this tutorial I found a while back -

Update no.01

So here comes the first update. Currently I have the Orbital torso finished. I actually started it way before I started this thread. The torso looks really cool and it is very easy to build but I didnt build those little parts (they are hard to pep or atleast for me). The torso is actually 3x times bigger than the original but it fits all right and doesn´t look too big. As you can see I will go with the Warrior helmet which is another easy to build and good looking helmet. I will have to modify it a little bit so my head will fit in perfectly. I guess that´s it for now. Enjoy !

Update no.02

So after a couple of failed attempts I managed to finish the Scout shoulder. It was a real pain to glue it together, but on the other side it looks really cool! Next I made both handplates which were actually pretty easy since most of the detail can only be added during the bondo section. The´re made out of cardboard but I still don´t know how I gonna attach them to the gloves. Then I went onto resining the pieces (torso, hand plates, scout shoulder). Now just wait until they dry so I can start fiberglassing them. Plus I have been trying to add some more detail on the Warrior helmet but..."sight"...it didn´t come out as I expected so again I have to add them during the bondo section. I guess that is all I currently have for you guys Enjoy!

Update no.03

First I would like to say that I added the link for the XG-89 Shin which I unfolded. It ain´t the best unfold but it will do it´s job Of course I glued together both of the shins and well it wasn´t a pain in the butt as I thought it will be.Thakfully. I´am currently resining both of the shins plus I started fiberglassing the other parts but sadly I ran out of it really quickly. So After Easter I gonna have to buy some more. I have also cut in half the torso so I can easier fiberglass it. And I will start working on the M6H pistol. So I guess that´s all for now, enjoy the pictures !

Update no.04

Not much of a progress I made this week. I didn´t have any motivation or anything aand didn´t wanted to force myself into making anything so I just left it like that. I have only applied 2 layers of resin on the shin and start applying bondo on the two small torso pieces. Actually I spend some time deciding which weapon I should make. I was thinking between the Sniper rifle and the Battle rifle. I think I will go with the Sniper since I want my Spartan to look badass xD Anyway I started building it out of cardboard using a tutorial I saw a while ago, luckily I was able to find it even though 80 % of it is missing...(sight). Link for the tutorial is in the first post. BTW This is just the base of the rifle.

Update no.05

Ok so I finished some more armor parts that is the knee caps, the butt plate?? or whatever it is... and finally both boots. Of course I applied 2 layers of resin on them and after that went fiberglassing the inside of them.That is pretty much all when it comes to the suit. Than I made some small progress on the Sniper rifle. As you can see I´am going to use PVC pipes as barrels and the bipod will be made out of wood. It´s actually a pretty big rifle I mean it´s 160 cm long while the in-game one is supposed to be 165-168 cm long. So yeah Enjoy !

Update no.06

Ok so as I promised here are some progress pictures. Well first I finally finished the Aviator shoulder but it was a real pain to finish it. Plus I had to re-unfold it too. But hey, it´s done and it is already coated with 2 layers of resin. Than I bought a few thing too like - airsoft gloves for 15 euro and knee pads for 10 euro. The reason is why I bought the knee pads is because I´am going to use screws to screw on the knee caps on them like it´s on the picture As you might have seen I changed the armor a bit - the visor (legendary visor) and I have added some new files to the first post. This is all for today but don´t be sad there is still more !

Update no.07

Okay, so first I would like to show you how my new workplace looks like. It took some time to finish it with my father but there is still much to be done. Atleast I can use posters to cover up some of the things that no one should see xD Than here are some photos of the bondoed and fiberglassed pieces I finished while I wasn´t active. The only problem I´am stuck with is how to join the two torso pieces together. This is what I´am thinkin about doin but I rather stopped then F it all up :X This is all for today !

Update time again! Even if it took me only 2 days to pep these, these finger plates or whatever were just a pain in the butt xD Actually the first time I messed up the scaling and now I got it just right. Still I need to come up with a way to attach them on the gloves -__- BTW they are already coated with 2 layers of resin too so... Enjoy !

Update no.10

Ok so another small update. Got both of the XG-89 Thighs pepped and they are already coated with 2 layers of resin too but for some reason I forgot to take a picture of the other one -___- AAAAAAnd I´am going to make this build "uniqeu". My first build was a UNSC ODST Medic which nobody except me made now it is going to a Spartan IV - Headhunter Gen.II from Team Delta-Omega. Why not ? There actually were Spartan III headhunters so why not go to the next level I already have some ideas on the logo and stuff like that but that will be in the next update

I have never really had the guts to try a Halo 4 suit but now I might do 1 after my Marine suit. I dunno though. Yours is looking real good too.
I bet I would rage if I had to do the finger plates over again XD. You have some real patients.

Update no.11

Another smaller update incoming! Well University keeps me busy with tests,homeworks and other stuff so I don´t really have much time to work on the armor. Still the only things that are missing from the armor are 4 pieces 2 on the hips and 2 on the thighs that never been modeled and the Xv-27 Shifting forearms. I already asked crimmson about the forearms if he could model it but it looks he he abandoned 405th or maybe he is just taking a break... I dunno. It might sound stupid but could anyone model the XV-27 Shifting forearms? I have some reference pictures and I can take more if you want. Now that is out of the way so let´s move to other things. So from what I´ve seen the butt plate might be a bit bigger so there´s a small chance a have to re-do it -___- And even if I was busy I found some time to finish the battle knife from Halo 4 and it is already coated with 2 layers of resin so hopefully during the weekend I will fiberglass it. HOLY CRIPES ON TOAST! Individual fingers? You are a patient patient man... Looking good though. I too am too intimidated by a full build and think I'll stick to helmets (which I love) and just marvel at the full pieces people put together from a safe and sane distance. Keep it up!
