Reach Release armor (Formerly Comic-Con Armor Palooza!)

So, I'm going to C-Con for the first time in my life (Uber excited!) and I've decided that if I'm going to make the 18 hour drive/train ride down to San Diego, I'm going to go all out and make as many diff armor sets as possible. The ones that I've decided to do are: The Spartan MK VI, Halo 3 Marine, and I'm going to update all my ODST armor to fit the enhancements made to the suits in H3:ODST. It's a big project and I'm hoping to cast it all out for the convention, which is currently about 6-months away. Right now I've got the following pepped:

-Rookie Helmet

-Halo 3 Marine Helmet

-HD MK VI Helmet

-Marine Chest

-Romeo's Goggles

-Buck's comm pack

-MK VI HD Chest

It doesn't seem like much, but here are some pics on what I just listed (And a nifty Video of me creating the MK VI Helmet! :D )

Rookie Helmet (I'm rather proud of this one ^^)

I'll keep you guys posted as I progress through this all- hopefully my friend will stop being lazy/unmotivated and help me out soon, I've got him finishing the Assault Rifle at least!

I suggest that you get your buddies to help you out.

If you continue make pieces of armor on your own, you might not make the deadline.

armor looks really good :)

wish i could go to C-Con

Thanks- tickets are still on sale on the Comic Con website, so you still have the opportunity! :D

"Are you planning to wear all of this or are you bringing friends because... "

I AM bringing a friend, but we'll be there all 4 days, so I'll have the chance to cycle through each suit before it's over :D

And like I said, I AM trying to get my friend(s) to help me out, but they don't have the same work ethic as me : /

Thanks, good luck to you too! Hopefully they'll at least come around once I start fiber glassing everything ^^

Nice pepping. Like everyone else said though I'd focus on the suit you like the best, finish that one and move on to the next one. If you try to focus on too much at once you never get as much done. Trust me I've been at it for three months now, haven't completed the main suit yet and I have three weapons half way done.

Thanks, yeah right now I'm just focusing on the MK VI suit- I've already completed like everything for the ODST, so updating it isn't necessary- just something I'd like to do if I have some extra time. As for the marine armor, I have all but the greaves and boot done now :D Good luck on your stuff as well!

(Double Post I know, but got an update)

So I've been working non-stop for the past week or so and this is what I have to show right now:

1-1.jpg

The fingerless gloves I use for my gear, got them at Wal-Mart for $10 and sharpied out "Gold Gym" on them.

11.jpg

My undersuit, which is just black thermal clothing and a Balaclava. also from Wal-Mart(I'm sure the thermal clothing will be a killer at Comic-Con...)

3-1.jpg

My new forearm, the HD ones from H3:ODST, rather than the WETA ones I used in my v1 build

4-1.jpg

5-1.jpg

Also built the newly modeled HD Thighs from ODST as well- my previous ones were just standard def.

6.jpg

Completed Romeo's goggles finally (kinda remind me of a PS1 controller)

7.jpg

New belt buckle- my old one tore and ripped apart

8.jpg

here's the crotch plate(bottom) and the top part of the "butt packs", rather than building the bottom part, I think I'll find a little fanny pack and spray paint it black so i can carry around my wallet and phone and such.

Anyway, that's about all that I'll need to update my ODST suit, all that's left for the marine suit is the greaves, and boot cap- which i have my friend working on. Hopefully I can start resining next weekend in my friends garage. I've been looking for an alternative to Bondo because it dries WAY too fast to do any real handling... If you have any ideas or suggestions just post them beneath- i'll keep you guys posted as I progress :D

Wow looks good so far. I hope you will reach the deadline!

btw. where did you get those forearm files? I can't find them anywhere :/

Great work on those forearms and thighs, they look sharp. I hope you can make your deadline, now that it sounds like your friends are helping.

Well, they were originally by Nightshade, but when I went back to the thread, the link was dead. you can search around it here: http://405th.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18606&st=580

If you don't find it, just PM me

Thanks to everyone for the feedback- right now I'm finishing up the ODST Backpack, might make the comm pack as well. Hopefully it'll stop raining and I can head outside for some long overdue fiber glassing on everything!

Btw- made this a while back and I'll prob pick it up again at some point down the road...

hahaha, it'll be an adventure ^^ And speaking of Warthog... within the next 2 years or so... I may just have one in my garage- I've already commissioned my friend and his dad who own a metal shop, and I have a truck that I'll be modding. Right now though, I'm definitely going to focus on all my suits for Comic-Con. One thing at a time :)
