awww crackerjack, any 405th member over 50 posts knows THAT XD

if you dont...GO FIND IT >_<!!!

and ...wait..are you making this FOR the movie?

Just to let you all know I'm not dead. Since last week I've been working on the casings for the rocket module. I've built the end piece, I just need to clean up the Car Body filler I used, and have started on the vent shield, which to me is looking more like handle. Unfortuantly, the college computers won't let up upload any of the pictures I've taken so far (I've been booted out of the workshop as its lunchtime right now, so I'm doing some of my 3Ds MAX work for my computer applications module, and participating in a live Q&A with Andy McNab)

And yes, as I coughed about ealier, I am building this for Peter Cooper and Operation Chastity. I offered my services as a prop builder since as I could do it as a college project, he would get the rocket launcher for free. The plan is once I've completed the final model and my tutors have graded the whole project in January, I'll send it off to Pete and one of the other prop builders (sorry mate, I forgot your name since we met at the MCM Expo in september) to be used as a master to cast more rocket launchers from.

So this IIISSSS going to be molded and cast? cause I know quite a few people would so go for one of these... LIKE ME!!! seriously, this is looking like its going along great and I am seriously interested.

Yes it will be moulded. Whether or not you'll be able to get your hands on a cast is ultimatly up to Peter though. I may get a cast or the orginal model back once Peter is finished with it, but I doubt I'll be able to make a mould myself.

I'll be posting a notification on the OC forum page later today, saying that I'm working on the SPNKr, but I'll still mostly be updating on the project here.

Update time! Done quite a fair bit this week. could have done abit more, but will spend much of next week elbow deep in MDF and Car body filler to make up for it.

Just to show how serious I am when it comes to building something, I make orthographic drawings!

The end piece of the rocket module housing begins to take form. I filled the space between the structure panels with bluefoam.

What was once known as the vent shield is now called the Loader's handle. This piece presented me with no end of trouble. This piece of Chemiwood was pretty dense, so it was a bugger to carve out the recess, but I eventually prevailed... Then I had to make another one!

Most of the pieces in a near finished state. The loader's handle has since been under loads of car body filler to correct some mistakes and such. The rocket modules casing also needs some more filler to smooth over some scratches and even the surface out abit more, and I'll add some detailing later on.

Next week I aim to have started on the middle section casing for the rocket module, and possibly start the launcher itself.

sweet, what glue are you using for the foam blocks?

also, is there a place where i can find weapon blue prints and schematics?

i really dont like using pep for weapons

were your orthographic drawings hand-drawn, or were they CAD generated through a parts list?

anyway, awesome launcher dude, I hope for whatever class you're doing this for you pass!

Me nethier. using Pep for weapon props always seemed odd to me. I'm using simple PVA to glue the BlueFoam and MDF together. As for the schematics, I made them myself based on Bevbor's Solidworks model. Once I've finished adding all the fine details I'll publish them all here for anyone who wants to build their own SPNKr. Gotta give back to the community.

S'lookin' good man - keep up the good work! :D

Will do! Have fallen behind this week though, due to the birth of my new cousin.

I generated the othros from my Pro/DESKTOP model. And yes, I had better get a pass for this at college. It may help me get onto the later year of a uni course rather than starting from the beginning.

Great work and I love the detail you are putting into it! Thumbs Up.

Thanks, means alot coming from one of the masters himself! I'm toning down on the overall fine detail slightly so as not to over complicate things when it comes to making the moulds.

Thanks for all your praise and support guys! I aim to have most of the main build done before I break up for Christmas on the 21st, and I'll have another 3 weeks after that to ensure everything is done.

I'm in college right now, so I can't upload any pictures atm, and I don't have my USB lead for my phone anyway, but I've started the main casing for the rocket module. I'll draw up the drive wheel details over the weekend and start that on Monday.

I agree in some ways. I look at how to break the prop down into components so it is easier to mold and still leave the most detail I can. That is how I look at it, but again great work.

Sorry for the lack of a regular update in recent, Christmas shopping got in the way.

Yeah. What I'm doing is leaving the whole thing unassembled when I send it off to Pete, so that each piece will be easy to mould and cast. Once I've finished putting together the pieces I'll add the surface detail.

Top tip, never use a tin of car body filler that has less than an inch left, cos it will always turn out crappy.

Most of the Rocket Module pieces put together. On of the barrel sections is still setting, so it hasn't been included here, but it should be ready when I go back tomorrow.

Close up of the gear wheel detailing on the middle section. When I left it on Friday night I had put in a piece of BlueFoam to block it out, and I'll car body fill it when I go in Monday.

I'll start work on the launcher housing next week too, which should be easier and quicker than the Rocket Module has been.

the reloading process will be like the one in the game, right?

Yes, however the barrel assembly wont spin after firing, simply too complicated to do within my time constraints.

BLAM! Amazing!

Great job, I will follow the topic with interest.

Muchas Gracias

Quick update.

Bit of car body filler-ing on the gear wheel. Currently there's abit more filler on there, and its all abit more smoother. What I haven't mentioned is that I'm using a different styled detailing than the official one, where, to me, the teeth look to go too deep, so that they would interfere with the barrels. the final result shouldn't look to dissimilar to this...

You may also notice some detailing on the grip. I'm having trouble with that, since Pro/DESKTOP keeps throwing a hissy fit about it! I'll just wing it when the time comes.

Tsk tsk, distractions!

Joke, I only work on them during my breaks.
