I 'll start on this tomorrow. Really like to do this
Just one question. The back and the shoulders and stuff. Does it all have to be Mark VI Based?
And I don't really get the back idea. It has to be compact, and a bulk in the back too?

And for the helmet: It has to be a bit like a Mk VI helmet, only your hair must be visible. But what about the back of your head??

Thanks for the questins, I know I was kinda vague but its hard for me to put it into words.

Cloak: Think something Jedi~ish but torn and in tatters... or what ever you think would look better. Thats what concept scketches are about.

Back and Shoulders: When I said Mk. VI based I ment like how all of the other variations use the same parts of the Mk VI.

Well this is Spartan armor so its supposed to be big an intimadating, but at the same time it need to be "slim" enough to fit under a cloak. Its up to the artist as to how to sketch this.

As for the helmet think somthing like this:

The cloak is Jedi-ish as it hides the face and most of the body. Its purpose is to hide that it is a Spartan under it. This could be done with a number of different styles. Originally I was thinking a regular cloak, but the more I think, torn dessert wrappings, or a hooded poncho, might look better.

Comments on the sketches:

Helmet: Very good, that’s exactly what I described. That’s the basic shape; add some filters/vents/valves to make it look more like a gasmask.

Back: Once again the basic shape is good. The back is supposed to be built over the existing Mk VI. The jets should come off of the raised portions that already exist from the back.

Front: The plate on the front looks good, but the vents on top don’t match up with the back of the armor.

Shoulders: I don’t know if that your current design, or if you didn’t include them. They should be slim, but not that slim.

Does anyone notice that a full cloak combined with jets on the back may be troublesome? Maybe? You know, perhaps when the jets are ignited next to some cloth? Hmm? I'm just saying- perhaps this may not be a great idea, realistically. Besides, who uses a cloak anymore? Star Wars is over, just let it go. Also, ideally speaking, the vents would be mounted on the shoulders, facing the opposite direction of the line of thrust. And lose the visor on the helmet- improve visibility as much as possible. But overall I would have to say it is an interesting project. I would be tempted to draw an example, but wouldn't it be easier/cooler to make it myself? Just saying... One more thing, though- if someone gives you a jetpack, wouldn't you want a full helmet to protect your grape?

The full cloak is removable, and is just being used at certain times. I happen to like the cloaked look, the only reason I said Jedi-ish is that there are a lot of people who know what a Jedi cloak looks like, (that and I don’t know the names of different styles of cloaks) The visor is a trade make of Spartans, I couldn’t really call it an armor variant if I remove one of the most recognizable features. Also this is 20years after Halo 3, I would assume that there would have been vast improvement in energy shield technology. Especially with how much they did with a few bits of stolen trinkets. Think of what they could do with unlimited aces to what the Elites had.

Alright, I have started work on this armor variant. I am actually pretty decent at coming up with designs and such. Anyway, here are my visions of the chest and back pieces.

I have much high quality ones on file (about 4000px X 4000px) just in case. Hope you like them.

Just to clarify, is modeling the armour and taking a screenshot fall within your contest's guidelines? I suck at drawing, so just doing the 3d would be a lot easier for me.

I may try to sketch something up on this. But I did want to say I happen to like the cloak and what if the Back had a way to pull the cloak into it like with a button on the chest? and if you run out of fuel which in a setup like that you could possibly do in a retreat the cloak doubles as a chute?
