I'm glad you enjoyed the use of your word. It was a good one.

Thanks for the compliment. Yes you are right it is the m6h2, my bad. I forgot Kaween didn't print it for me so it's not from Reach, but it is darn close to the Reach one. Good eye. I'm going to give it another primer coat then sand then touch up with putty before primer and paint.

Update:

What to expect from 3d printing...? For everything to go wrong!!!

But regardless, I finally got it to where I'm happy (not super happy, mind you). And yes, I know the game model isn't black and my weathering could have been a lot better.

This shotgun has been a headache. I've counted it breaking 6 times before it has even been completely assembled!

Main problem was a weak integrity of the print. Just slightly too thin of walls and hardly any infill support. The solution ? Expanding glue. Guerilla Glue, after drying, expands and becomes really hard. (Obviously the threaded rod idea did not pan out. I couldn't get the holes to line up properly.)

I shoved a file in one end, let glue dry 24 hours and then shoved it into the other print and let glue dry for 24 hours. I did this again for another joint, using a long bolt.

I also used this Weld On #4 for Acrylics to resoften the PLA plastics and weld the pieces back together. Can also be used to melt PLA into a slurry that you can brush on to fill in gaps .

From there I spot putty'd the whole thing which took about 3 hours and then sanded with 320 grit paper which took about another 3 hours.

I also attached the pump action using a 4" low profiled drawer slide. Works great!

How does it feel, being clad in epic plastic armor?

Painful, uncomfortable, loud, but yes empowered is somewhere in there too. I'm sure I'll get use to the challenges. I just wish I could hold the weapons normally and be able to reach my own head to adjust the helmet. But like someone warned me, Reach armor is like trying to drive a Cadillac. So I'll just accept the shiny thing of beauty.

Why painful and uncomfortable? If its bothering you so much after so short of time......what's going to happen after a few hours at a Con? And how is it loud? Do you have a helmet liner? That should muffle some of the outside sounds. Unless you're just a heavy mouth breather.......

Here is the last of the 3d printed props for my Reach suit (unless someone prints me an armor mod. ;))

Pistol is from Halo 5, but painted to resemble the more icon Halo pistol.

I'd like to still attach real screws to give it more detail.

(This one shows where I glued two magnets)

Here is a Reach grenade.

And finally my knife and sheath.
