Yesterday, 11 people where killed in a tragic school shooting - in Finland.
This has been very shocking and tragic. It has had a downcharging effect on Finland.
The police did not fire a single shot during this period, eventually the 'shooter' killed himself
I didnt have any relatives involved, but some of my friends had their relatives... Umm... =(

I hope that they are doing well, wherever they are.

Edit, Finlands population is 5,2 million, and we have 2,4 million firearms. That makes us the country with the most private gunarms per person.

EditEdit, the 'shooter' was a woman..

A woman??
I have not heard this. At least tv and magazines say it was a man.
But, eventually, why?
I'm sorry for your friends , Finnish.

Sori kun "hi-jackkasin" sun threadin, en huomannut ;)
Im not 100% sure but on MTV 3 they said it was a female killer, (that was in the live 12 o' clock news)

Here, they showed a guy with a gun and they said he was the killer.

They also said Finland was the second country with the most weapons, right after USA.

Dude, that sucks. Sorry to hear about it.

I heard the killer was a man, and that he had posted threats on YouTube. And that he hated the human race. Really, how do these sickos even end up like this?

Also, I didn't see anything about this, but did the police get there during the shooting, or after it?

Again, sorry to hear about your friends' relatives.

It's never easy hearing about this kind of stuff, especially if your friends lose relatives, or if you lose your friends.

It's never easy to lose someone you knew. I still remember the time my friend was shot and killed.

Needless to say, everyone in that school who was lost is in my prayers.

The video is not very accurate, it's Finland, Yenna and the US (in order from first to last)
Yenna is a totalitarean state in Africa.

Edit: The police got there during the shooting, but because of the finnish law they did not fire a single shot at him..

I think you mean Yemen. Unfortunately shootings tend to happen so fast that most of the time there is nothing police can do, but it is tragic when police can do something but are restricted from doing so. It is a sad day indeed when someone becomes so lonely and hopeless that their despair turns to rage. Too many times have we realized the problem, and still do nothing about it. My prayers go out, friend.

The news story put a different spin on gun ownership. Finland may have the most private firearms per person, but is still behind Yemen, which has an estimated 60 million guns (roughly three per man, woman, and child). These countries combined cannot match the number of firearms in the U.S., which stands at over 200 million (around .664 per person). So in that way, the report was correct.

Update- corrections should be made on my last post.

Yemen actually leads in private firearms per person with over 60 million private arms and a population of only 22,230,531 (around 2.698 firearms per person).

The U.S. is second with over 200 million private firearms and a population of 301,139,947 (July 2007 est.) (estimated 0.664 guns per person)

Finland is last with 2.4 million firearms and a population of 5.2 million (estimated 0.461 firearms per person).

Sorry for the inaccuracy on the last post. Hope this helps.

The shooter was not a woman. BBC News identified the shooter as 22-year old culinary arts student Matti Juhani Saari. The link is right here.

There is also a video he posted on youtube.com of him firing his weapon. It is here.

Use the Edit button dude. More double and triple posting will result in a warning or two.

BTW- last count I heard, there were 60 million Americans owning those 200 million firearms because people usually own more than one if they have one.

Yeah, after more investigation, that was what appeared, he did have a female partner though..
The US news are not that accurate.

You cant really say that Yemen has more gun arms in 'private' hands, since yemen has no 'official' army, as though this number is said to be in private hands.

But what i meant by my statistic, is that 2,4 million different people own a firearm, add multiple arms to the people who collect the weapons, etc. The amount of weapons goes over 5 million..
