Hey all. RedGenreal and I are new around here and decided to finally get going on our armour builds. After a few weeks of reading through the many stickies (very recommended for good reason), I've chosen to do a simple Mark VI suit and Red's going for an ODST suit. We only decided on getting into gear for this project at the beginning of September and we're trying to make a it for a Halo-ween deadline.

So we'll be posting pics as we go! Enjoy and crits welcome!

Day 6 - Chest, left calf and left forearm all pepped up!

ODST pics to come.

Nice, next you'll have to put up shots of mine. Helmet is all cut and folded ready to be glued, as well as another gauntlet cut out. I'm getting blisters from cutting so many of these pieces out.

good pep skills you got there.......you got a good talent. We'll be waiting for your your next pics and progress....keep up the good work

Lol, yeah, HD parts sound like fun and definitely more challenging. Although I'm aiming to be complete after by Halo-ween, so I don't have much extra time. Simply the amount of time it took me to get all this done, makes me think I'm going to be cutting it close. But I think if this all turns out well, I'll start work on some HD armour for a con or something. Time will tell...

ODST time!

Picking up ODST tomorrow, so we'll be busy with that for Tuesday :cool

Hey AngelVirusX, looking good. I'm also attempting the same project, though I'm going with the HD models, started a few days ago. I have a tip if you're actually getting blisters from cutting. What I do is fold a piece of tissue until it's a strip and then wrap it around whatever finger you use to do cutting. Wrap that with tape and you should be good to go. I've been able to cut out 64 of the 200 pages in the last couple days.

Working hard as usual guys. Got a big update on the progress.

First I need to say that things totally crapped out for me trying to play ODST on Tuesday. My Xbox literally red ring'd seconds before I hit 'A' on 'START MISSION'. Urgh... Anyways, it's not all so bad, gives me wayyy more time to work on my suit.

Second note, I've managed to recruit some willing chums for some ODST builds. That's right, this group is going to be one Spartan(me) and three of my friends as ODSTs. RedGeneral is one and the other two aren't on the site, but I'll be updating for them.

Here goes!

Day 9 - Mark VI helmet done! Sadly my head is pretty huge, so it doesn't fit through the bottom lip. I could easialy tear the inner lip part out, but I want it still pretty solid once I start the resin stage.

Now this shot is a compilation of the four of us' work to date. My 3 ODST friends haven't quite finished completly, but each has done something. Of course there's a few pieces missing that are done, not all of them are gathered right now at my house.

First ODST helmet!

That's all for now. I'm off camping for the weekend, but the other guys are still going to be hard at work.

Alright so all the big pieces are now pepped. Pretty much just have to do all those small packs that the ODST seems to have. I'll get Angel to post pics soon.

Another update for the 405th. Peps are all nearly completed and we decided start off our resin work. As you may see, there are bits and pieces everywhere. That's cause there's 3 ODST guys and a Spartan. Other than the MC helmet, I was last one to start resining and last one to get the last of the hardener. So I only go to resin one piece. More to come soon!

Day 24 (I think...)

WOW nice start there are you goin to do the hi def parts later? anyways looks like you guys are having fun keep it up hope to see it finished soon

It sucks, we ran out of Hardener about halfway through a tin of Resin. Put a little damper on the evening. But on the bright side, that's about the time Pizza showed up :p.

If all goes well I'm hoping to do a HD Mjolnir suit, some time afterward this one. With custom pieces like a Scout helm and EVA shoulders or something like that. But I'll probably take a nice long break after this is all said and done.

The stands are actually old tomato planters. I recently moved into a new house and the previous owners had left a bunch behind, not to mention a bunch of other random crap I don't care for.

Ok! So here's so more for the resin work, plus a picture a me going 'head 2 head'. Lol. Enjoy!

Day 25 - More Resin

Well I've now completed 95% of all the fiberglassing. We used the Mud Glassing method which has worked amazingly well. Angel and our two other friends are about 50% done. Angel is having a little bit of trouble with his resin. We think he mixed a batch with very little hardener so his pieces are still sticky from being done last Wednesday. Though we do live in the north and do have snow on the ground as of today :p. So it's a little chilly in the garage.

I'll get him to post a couple newer pics soon. I was cutting the excess cloth off of the edges of my pieces and I was wondering if there was a good way to get rid of all the little strands of fiber cloth that stick out. Any suggestions?

Well I'll probably give all my pieces a quick shot of primer tomorrow to get a good idea where to start for a little exterior bondo work. Wish us luck!

Hey there 405th! Been a spell. How have you been? Good good, me too.

Heh.

So yea 405th, two weeks to go before Halo-ween! Are you guys as pumped as I am to show off my sweet armour to the town? You betcha I am! Update time! Mudglassed a ton of pieces over the past week, thanks to Tandum (I think that's how you spell it) for the awesome Mudglassing tutorial. It works great!

Now I have a question for everyone. Say some of my resined pieces aren't curing probably. Like they're still sticky after a few days. Are there any other ways of drying the resin than simply putting on another coat of stiff resin?

Fourteen days left!

Day 44!!!!!

Halloween is only 4 days away! Good thing I have some goodies for you guys! RedGeneral finsihed his suit! He needs to make a few more adjustments but it's going great!

Tomorrow I'll have gotten my pressure suit (Finally!!!) and I'll be cranking out some heavy rigging. My ODST comrades are rigging up tomorrow too, so I should have a ton more pictures tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Oh and thanks to my mother's awesome sewing skills she made us a UNSC flag!

Gee....if the flag is red, then what colour will my Mark IV be? Hmmmmm...Time will tell!!
