Luckily, I've had loads of experience with fiberglass, bondo, paint prep and finish, and etc. My father has owned/ran an auto body repair shop for nearly 40 years, so my first job as a teen and for years thereafter was there. My major in college is electrical and computer engineering, so I thought all that auto body experience was just wasted space, until I found this hobby ;) anyhow, enough rambling, I've never pepped before so here is my first venture into the realm of armor creation:

a little resin on the front

full exterior resin, for some reason this pic makes it look horrible, but it's pretty smooth.

I'm currently applying actual fiberglass to the interior, all but the cardstock shield placeholder. Having a little trouble getting the cloth to lay down back in the end of the visor, even with experience I can't say I've ever had to squeeze into that small an area on a car, any suggestions on this would really help! Let me know what ya'll think!

Glad that you caught the Armor Crafting Adiction!

Aurias! Welcome to the 405th!

If your refering to trying to fiberglass the inside of the Brim? Yes?
It's a real pain in the A$$ to do. Three words that keeps haunting me with regards to this. Messy. Sticky. Frustrating!

This is what I did for my helm:
Have your strips of fiberglass cloth pre cut to the desired length.
Resin the inside of the brim with a brush. Liberaly! Lots of it.
Place one strip into the desired spot.
Fingertap it all down. Enough that it sticks inplace and is flush to the surface of the cardstock.
You just have to plow through it!
I sometimes used a mirror to see the interior and check for bubbles or missed placed pieces.
Once that is all done... Let the resin harden for a bit. Then with the brush... Brush on lots of resin ... Let it all saturate the cloth. Make sure there there are no air pockets/bubbles between the layers.
Then Done.

Other options. Use Fiberglass Matt and pre cut it to the specific locations in the interior. Use the same procedure above but place those pieces to there planned location. ie pepakura with fiberglass matt. LOL Super messy!

Hope that gives you a few ideas!

Cheers!

Awesome, thanks :) I thought about using a mirror as well, but my wife wouldn't let me touch any of her makeup mirrors with sticky resin fingers haha. Yea, it's a mess in there! I'm letting what I did manage to squeeze in dry, then I'm going to put it in liberally like you mentioned. I apparently cut my strips a little too wide, when I did get a peek in there it has a couple of bubbles. I'm hoping my visor/brim is smooth enough that I don't really have to sand it much, the top rear of the helm is where I need good thickness to carve in some detail I think.

So far I'm loving it!!! What time I can get away from work and class I'm digging on this helmet, not sure why I chose one of the harder pieces first, but I suppose I can hope this will make the rest of the armor go a little smoother!
