Hello everyone,
So first, I'd like to say I'm a fairly advanced costumer, but new to the world of papercrafting & Fiberglass resin, Bond-o, & the whole what-have-you to building Halo armor, I know all about this from viewing tutorials & getting some practice with small pieces of armor, but for my first whole costume attempt I wanted to tackle something big, so me & my girlfriend have been working on a suit for the last couple of weeks on-&-off of an Elite Ranger from Halo Reach. Luckily, all of the models have been provided & unfolded by Satchmo III, who is a fantastic modler & a really cool guy, I recommend you check out his model portfolio because he's done some great work on the forum.(Anyhow) The Build has gone really well so far, it's mostly been the cutting & gluing of the pieces to the suit, but currently we've been putting a lot of work into the armor, starting with the Helmet & Torso pieces of the armor.
So the first thing we constructed was this Visor, it'lll serve as the mold through which we create the actual visor
next I started constructing the underside of the helmet.
from there I began working on the mouth piece
& started to see a lovely marriage of pieces happening,
afterwards I connected the mouthpiece to the underside of the Helmet,
I then started to work on the chestpiece & back piece
Alex was so graceous as to model for the current Torso piece progress
& the progress on the back piece, forgive the dangling other pieces, but that'll be worked out by tonight!
Lots of work, up until 4:30AM, here's the front of the chest piece!
Keep an eye out for the other pieces & let me know what you think guys!
UPDATE!!!!
With a couple hours working since I just came back from a four-day camping trip, I figured I'd post some photos of the progress I've made working on my Elite armor, it's mostly additions to the chest armor, but the damn thing is just about wearable now!
Luckily I was able to get Derek to put this on so I could show all of you this wonderful Progression
Just a show of how the collar sits without the support
& lastly, here are the alterations I've done to the backpiece, so I believe I've made a lot of progress for only a day of work, thanks for checking out my post guys, keep an eye out for more!!!!
