fitting armor over my fat hands.....

so i have my forearm piece done, but im running into the problem i knew i would have to deal with sooner than later. i cant fit it over my hands, they are too big. =( i know i could just cut the end out a bit blah blah blah..... but i dont want to do that. i have a couple ideas. one being splitting it down the edge and hinge on it then putting some sort of clasp on the other side and working it into the looks of it when its done and have it be very discrete. has anyone else done this before so i could have an idea of what im doing? i could do it myself but if someone else has it already i could use it for some good refferences.

I have plastic armor, so everythnig I do might be diffrent if you have Pep armor.

Basically what I did was have a top half and bottom half of the forearm conjoined by velcro, which allows for easy on and off access, reguardless of hand size.
