Whoops, I lost track

Is the ApoxieSculpt, a MUST HAVE?
Because Im starting up my ODST helm, and so far this is what I know
1.)Resin outside
2.)Fiberglass Inside, then resin over fiberglass
3.)Resin outside
4.)Bondo / Sand pattern

where does the ApoxieSculpt come in...

or... why am I having the feeling that the ApoxieSculpt IS the bondo?

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that the ApoxieSculpt is basically the same as the bondo.

Looks good so far! Gonna be done for Halloween?

Would ApoxieSculpt be nontoxic so you dont need a respirator if so that would be helpful to a lot of people who dont want to use bondo.

Apoxiesculpt IS non-toxic, you will still want to wear gloves cause it can make a good mess. And for saftey you should wear at least a dust mask if you sand it (That is what the manufacturer says). Apoxiesculpt is a lot different then bondo, they both use a chemical reaction to harden, but bondo is more "spreadable" then apoxiesculpt, and the chemical reaction creates heat (endothermic i think). Sculpt has the consistency of pladoh and you can add water to help smooth it, when it dries it is more like a ceramic coating then bondo. I think its easeir to use the Sculpt because you only need to(Hopefully) sand once wheras bondo is a process of sand, bondo, sand, bondo, spot putty, sand. But Apoxiescuplt is much more expensive.

A large container of bondo is like $25-$30 8lbs of Apoxie sculpt was $70

Heres some more pics of my progress. (keep in mind it still needs to be sanded)

It will be wearable for halloween, but it will be far from finished.

Heres what I have done for my smg

I should have everything sculpted by the end of next weekend.

Update time! I got the visor in the helmet, the smg as done as its going to get for halloween I think, and I got the back half of the upper torso sculpted. I have to redo the front part of the upper torso from pepakura again. The fiberglass warped it beyond usefullness, which stinks because I thought I had enough supports on it, oh well. Im thinking of another way to stregthen the inside. Apoxie sculpt on the seams and in the middle, a crap-ton of strapping tape, the kind with the fibrous material in the tape, really the apoxie sculpt adds the true strength to the forms the way I have done this, so it only needs to be strong enough to let me put the sculpt on. Let me know what you all think.

Pic's below.

OK! My ODST is now WEARABLE, it is far from completed, but its good enough for halloween.

I will post more pictures of my halloween shenanigans as they happen.

I will still be on the forums but dont expect much in the way of an update till around christmas time, as My studies now need to be my no 1 priority in life. I extend my humble thanks to the 405th community, without your kind guidance, this little dream of mine would never have come to fruition. This is still a work in progress but I will be taking a break for a month or so.

Please enjoy these pics and stay tuned for more.
