Galactic Armory Marine build

I've been working on this one for a bit, and totally forgot to make a post for it. Turret is on pause since my vehicle is down for maintenance, and i need to finish this for dragon anyway.

I'll be making a medic set, with some derivative inspiration from Cpl Hicks.

Helmet was completed first a couple months ago, with mandatory bolts for added detail.

Montana Gold colors Titanium, Anthracite, and NATO *chef's kiss*

Oil wash will be done to the whole set at one time

If it was still married, this is the part where I'd get in trouble for drill plastic in the living room

Ran out of neutral colors, but im wrapping these in fabric anyway. Turned out acceptable for borderline zero work.

I'll be doing the same build soon enough, I love the idea of wrapping the shoulder pieces in fabric!
Well done.

I'm going to see how this fabric reacts with paint, since the shoulder pads are supposed to be green. We'll see how it goes. I was blinded by how lazy I could be before I realized the color discrepancy

This looks so good! Love the weathering on the helmet over the cross, and the fabric over the print has come out really nice.
Much appreciated. The fabric definitely saved a ton of time. I'll have to touch it up a bit to match the weathering once everything is complete, but it did save a ton of prep time. I might do another shoulder pad set and spray them with truck bed liner to test too. Regardless, I'm stoked for how its coming together.

Goddamn those fabric-wrapped pieces really came out fantastic. What method did you use for the weathering on the helmet? That stippled scratch pattern is super convincing. Also loving all the customization, don’t see that a lot on marine builds

Love the padlock over the heart! Any plans to stop it rattling around while you walk. That would drive me crazy after awhile. The fabric on the straps was a good idea as well, but I'm also curious to see how it looks with truck bed liner. I was wondering about that the other day. Could save a lot of time on sanding prints.

I'm loving the personal details of this kit! The real lock is a great touch.

As much as I wish I could, I can't take credit for my graffiti/lock, as I'm pretty much pulling it right from Cpl Hicks armor in Aliens.

Reclaimer, for all my weathering, I do a mix of dirt and Vaseline, then stipple it on with a glove, then wipe it off after the top coat. You can see in this picture of my ODST repaint

There really isnt much rattle, since i bent the latch to keep pressure on it to hold it mostly still. Im still not terribly worried about it though, as my ODST sounded like a walking lego bin. As for bed liner, I did use FlexSeal on my ODST Undersuit and Back Plates since I reprinted those in Flexible PLA. The back isn't great, but it was also almost zero effort, and will be mostly covered by my pack

Bending the latch was smart. I'm definitely worried about my ODST sounding like a walking lego bin haha. I'm thinking I'll put some 2mm EVA foam on the backs, and maybe some automotive weather stripping along the inner edges or something so the parts don't bang around on each other. We'll see how much noise they make.

I've definitely used plasti dip to fill print lines so I could meet a deadline. Bed liner is quite a bit thicker though I imagine. Might work better. Or it might just destroy all the details.

For me, bed liner just varies too much from brand to brand. Like some are a hard gritty texture, and some being a lumpy rubber, and I constantly mix them up
